Baiting

Burnsome that’s the second time I’ve heard about someone using Ol’ Roy dog food. Last guy I heard about was up around Randolph Co. Heard he kills close to 100 a year just using dogfood…that ain’t you is it??

Not me but might have been DoubleUp as I think he might be in that successful category. I'm no where near that success quota

The wife doesnt care but I'm probably considered the village idiot in my town when seen scraping some flattened animal off the pavement and throwing it in the truck bed. Actually I get better coyote response from Ol' Roy dog food and various table scraps than road kill so its not really a priority for me. One of these days I might stake down a deer and see how it works

Deer, pigs, beaver. Those seems to be the favorite here.

I put out a couple pounds of cheap dog food from the dollar store, on the flank of a road kill deer. Coyote ate all the deer while I was gone for the weekend, left the dog food in the field. I put out another deer(frozen this time) yesterday, sitting tonight. Taking extra rounds, as I don't know how they ate a deer in 2 nights.

May be they are ganging up for body heat😁

So my son-in-law was telling me he has coyotes hitting his deer bait pile quite often so I asked him what he's putting out. Turns out its that apple-based deer corn. Gets lots of deer and coyotes he says.

I wasnt really sure about that, but said what the heck might as well try it so I bought a 50 pound bag of the stuff.

Getting plenty of deer so far but no coyotes. The two that were hanging around for a while have moved on but I'm sure they'll be back.

Then I noticed the hound dog seems to like the stuff and is actually eating it when I put it out each night so there might be something to this stuff....

Anyone else ever tried it?

I poured some wild game innovations crushed sugar beets out just to see how many does were hanging around along with what bucks that made it through our 2024 season.. I believe I had more coyotes on camera as I did deer when I went back to check my sd card after first week being out.. never thought I'd have coyotes regularly coming back to munch on sugar beets, daytime and night time

Neighbor had a goat die and asked if I wanted to put it out for baiting coyotes, figured why not give it a shot.. by the 3rd night I had coyotes sending me pictures from cell camera and they was enjoying the free meal a little to long.
With the snow being so crunchy sounding and the moon being so bright I decided I couldn't sneak in any closer than from my driveway.. 360 yards was not ideal distance but always say gotta take shots to make some shots so I sent one from the 6.5 creedmoor and she dropped on impact..
