Baiting

hoosier nitedog...you mentioned you sometimes get notifications but by the time you look outside the coyotes are gone.... Are you using cell cameras only? or driveway alarms sensors too? Driveway alarm sensors are great for instant notifications. I have two driveways/logging roads where most of my coyotes enter my property from. I have driveway alarms spaced 50-100 feet on the roads. Each one rings a different noise. So based on time delay and order of chimes, I know where the motion is at, which direction it is moving, and how fast. I then put cell cameras on each of those trails too. I use tactacam. If I wait for a cell notification on my phone, it usually comes 2-20 minutes after the photo is taken. But if my driveway alarms go off and i open the app and keep refreshing the camera that is paired with those alarms, I usually see what's there in about 30-45 seconds. The driveway alarms I use are Wuloo, and Hosmart. I run both and like both. Purchased from ebay and amazon.

Coyote thumper I only have a cell camera setup on bait site, have thought about adding driveway sensors thanks for the info where you got yours from.. my camera is on instant notification and usually sends photos within the min or 2 but if I'm upstairs in bed I gotta throw some warmer cloths on, get downstairs to grab my rifle sitting on the tripod and out the door.. if they don't stick around for more than few mins I don't always get a shot at them..

Had another visit the site early this morning but I didn't hear my phone while sleeping

The bait site is around 400 yards from the house, my 2 yr old daughter and wife are both asleep and it's not worth me waking them up each time I'm up shooting out the window I'm shooting 6.5 creedmoor with suppressor.. however im pretty confident in my rifle for taking shots 300 yards or even further, so I don't have to get real far from the house to shoot and not disturb them or my in-laws which live next door.. (happy wife happy life)

I have steel gong targets setup out past 400 that I take several shots at throughout the week during daylight hours to practice up.. not saying I kill every single coyote I shoot @ that distance but the practice definitely has helped me out tremendous..95 gr vmax with 200 yard zero I have less than 6" drop @ 300, from 300 out to 400 yards It's a different story, its dropping 2" every 25 yards...I purchased some 105 gr sierra blitzking to try out as well to see how it performs compared to the vmax

I too us a tactacam camera. It sends a notification within 30 seconds. I had to get an Apple Watch to monitor my heart and it’s been great for setting in the blind. I can’t sleep through it’s vibration. It sure is nice to grab a nap if you can stay warm enough!

Ok. I have a couple spots I put bait out that are 50-120 yds from my house. I usually shoot a suppressed bolt action .223. I have 3 kids (2.5-7 yrs old now) and my wife sleeping in our double wide house. One of the windows I shoot from is right next to the shared wall of my daughters room. My kids and wife rarely wake up when I take a shot.

If you're happy with your setup, then that's great. But if it were me I'd try to bait them in closer so I could take the shots from the house.

I get a lot of false alarms with deer and cats so i wouldn't like going outside to check all the time, but I guess since you are using a cell cam and you know there's a coyote out there each time you go out that's a bit different. And upon re-reading I caught that you are also trying to not disturb inlaws....that makes a bit more sense

I shot 3 from my buddies machine shed, next to his house. In the morning he told me he heard me shoot(suppressed 204R). I said no way, what time did you hear shots. He said about 10:30. Told him I was sleeping, woke up about 12:30am shot one. Woke up about 2am, shot 2 more.

Am I baiting to close to my house? I been shooting fox a few years in open yard bait site about 60 yards. even know there are coyotes in the area They never would hit that bait. I been wanting to shoot a coyote from my house. 2 weeks ago, i set up a bait about 90 yards in the woods. I was thinking they be more comfortable coming into that. nothing yet except fox.

I got in the blind just after sunset. Just checked my cell cam pics. Last night lone coyote at 8:11-8:12 moved same direction as the one I shot. At 11:30 a pair shows up and works the deer for almost 1/2 hr. Guess I maybe sitting awhile. Have peach lemonade and a couple mini babyruth.

Had another coyote trip the camera at 8:25 was gone before I got scope on. Saw it thru the fence line trees couldn't find my squeaker call fast enough. Drive by suck no snow or I could be watching with my Steiner binoculars. One pic on the game cam.

Mn, buddy heater on low temp outside 20's light wind so I need to stay quiet. Worked bean ground not much snow for no moonlight. Getting close to breeding so there will be drive by coyote.
