Copenhagen

I'll tell you what I do. I buy some jerky, chew it up real small and fine, and shove it in my bottom lip. Gives the same feel, and helps take the urge away.

I hope it helps, it would be a shame not to be there for all of her firsts.

Good luck brother.....it can be done, especially with all of that little girls love

Look dude I know your pain Copenhagen is my crack I dipped it for years then realized if I didn't quit it I was going to kill me. I dipped 2 cans a day then one day I just put it down told god if he'd help me quit this [beeep] I'd never pick it up again and I haven't touched it since. Thats been 14 + years ago and I still think about it sometimes. I also have a hard time wondering if a doctor said I was to going die if my first thought wouldn't be to get a dip and how god would feel about that!! Its the devil just give it up!!!

My grandpa has been gone for a bit over 10yrs now, but when he was around, if anyone in our family was ever putting something off, he would tell the same "lesson":

Human nature is to use any excuse they can come up with NOT to do something. It's thw way our brains are programmed. What would your life be like if you flipped that programming around and used any excuse you could come up with TO DO IT instead?

Instead of saying "I'm not going to quit today, it makes more sense start on New Years", why not say, "It's Monday before Christmas, it makes sense to get a head start on 2013". Or instead of "New Year's resolutions never work," think about the scenario where the Mayans would have been right, and consider the fact that the world didn't end as a "free pass", tell yourself, "we narrowly averted armageddon, I'm not going to waste it."

Or go buy yourself a new pair of shoes and tell yourself, "I got a new pair of shoes, I'm not going to chew anymore because I have new shoes."

As silly as it sounds, one of my uncles and his son quit chewing a few years ago literally because they bought new boots. They both needed new boots, and both wanted to quit, they went into the shop, bought eachother a new pair of boots. They told eachother they wouldn't chew in the boots that the other had bought them.

Any excuse to do something good for yourself is the right excuse.

Good luck and God bless to all of you toughing it out, keep up the good work!

If it was easy to quit, there would be no one using the stuff.

I'm impressed with how many guys on this thread have stopped using. Good on you guys. Hang in there. And if you relapse, just start again.Your family will thank you for your dedication. It's Christmas and you are the best gift you could possibly give them.
Merry Christmas guys and I wish you success in your attempts to quit.

I have a buddy that wants to go yote hunting with me But I will not take him because he smokes like a steam engine.

I don't usually post on these things, but this subject struck a nerve. I'm 50 years old been chewing Copenhagen since I was 14.
I am now on my 5th week without tobacco, still think about it every day !
If I can do it so can you !

You can do it Burris
I smoked for 30+ yrs. Quit at the turn of the century and I've got the will power of a crack head, so you're a shoe in.

I have smoked for 16years. I just turned 28 on the 20th of this month. I decided that I wanted to see my kids grow up so I have not smoked since the 19th. I am hoping I can quit for good this time. Just hope its not to late. And maybe just maybe it will help with my coyote hunting. Now I wont smell like cigarretts

I have chewed since 6th grade. I'm 31 now. Wife and I are planning on having kids starting next year. I've slowed/sort of quit in the past, but nothing serious. I just quit November 20th and haven't touched it since. The first 2-3 days are miserable, but its much better after a week or two. I still think about it, but can go most of the day without wanting some now. My advice is to just drop it; no gums, patches, mint stuff. If you WANT to quit, it's not that bad. I wanted to have it kicked before I have kids running around.

Congratulations to all you guys who are quiting and have quit. It is not easy, but it does get easier every day.
This is the best gift you can give your family and friends. They want you around for a long time yet.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

best advice I can give ya... coming from someone who doesn't drink, smoke, or chew... been free of it my whole life, and this is my own phrase... Learn to discipline yourself, so someone else doesn't have to... It's all about self discipline my friend, anything you decided to start, you can decide to END.

Kudos to all of you that have quit. Been chewing for 10 ys and after reading posts, just made sure there was none for easy access in house or truck. It won't be easy but like everybody said before, got to have determination. Good luck gents.
