Nightshooter, welcome to the forums. There are some very good guys here in the Baiting thread. Looking forward to your hunting stories and videos. It's always good to see how people in other parts of the world go about it.

Afternoon Gents and fellow predator hunters. It's been a while, but got a couple Georgia coyotes recently. Two in two nights. I thought that would be it but 3 more showed up last night so I guess I'll get after them starting this evening. Couple videos attached for your enjoyment.

Thanks guys. Just shot the third one a couple of hours ago. Lined up the shot and let it fly. My hogster screen went totally black/off the instant of the shot. Heard quite the 'death scream' commotion downrange and by the time I got the hogster fired back up it was gone. Looked for it in the woods for a bit but no joy. Went back to the house and got the hound to try and track it. We spent at least 30-45 minutes looking but found nothing. Know I hit him based on the noise afterwards but didnt recover the body and apparently no video to boot. Bummer!

My hogster has been plagued by this issues quite often. Goes off at the moment of a shot. Running an Ankler external battery pack and I think the connection jars loose sometimes. Gotta get that fixed.

Will look more in the morning but its certainly easier with a thermal scanner at night, so I suspect he made quite the run. Probably wont ever find him but we'll see...
 
Wildflights: nice job on those last couple. Every time i watch one of your videos i think to myself: he really needs a suppressor. Haha. Nice shooting. Keep up the good work. I think i'm around 15 for the year as well.

We are only 1 week into the WA state "No night coyote hunting" month. I feel like i'm going through withdrawls already. I'm anxious to get out and do lots more night hunting. I will likely do some daytime calling during the next month until night hunting opens back up.

First year turkey hunting up there in Washington I called in a pair of coyotes and couldn’t Google fast enough to see if y’all had an open season on them!! This was early May and those jokers looked better than any winter coyote I’d ever trapped or shot. Didn’t realize y’all had a thermal night season…when does it start and end?

We don't have a thermal season up here. @coyote_thumper is refering to hunting after legal hours during modern deer and elk seasons.

"During any modern firearm deer or elk season, it is illegal to hunt any wildlife after legal hunting hours. See exceptions to legal big game hunting hours on Hunting Hours."
 
In WA state the regulations say that coyotes are open season year round, day or night, and you can hunt at night with nightvision/thermal. EXCEPT, it is illegal to hunt coyotes at night during the general deer and elk modern firearm(MF) seasons, which happens during October-November.

This is what I meant by the "no night coyote hunting" season.

This year Deer MF season is Oct. 12-31, and late general MF season is Nov. 14-17. Elk MF (for the west side of the state where I'm at) season is Nov. 2-13.

So basically night time coyote hunting is closed Oct. 12-Nov. 17. Coyotes may still be hunted during "daytime hunting legal hours" during these dates.

If a person was motivated, i think they could legally hunt at night during a couple of the 1-2 day gaps between MF seasons. I don't think i will try it though, at least not this season.

I'm anxiously awaiting November 18....
