Your Pic of the Day

By the way, are you still cutting rattles off your rattlers? Do it the easy way, just grab the tail as close to the first rattle and unscrew them; no more bloody stumps to dry out & they screw right off.

Been going through my photo albums and trying to sort them out. Discarding a lot of junk and sharing a few of the better ones along the way. I know you guys have a lot of great pictures so hoping to see you all take the time to share them with us, now that hunting seasons are winding down.

Gemsbok are found in semi-arid bushlands of southwestern Africa. They stand about 4' at the shoulder. Males weigh up to 525# and females weigh up to 450.
Here's a couple of bulls squaring off playfully while a 3rd one is getting into the mood.
Male gemsbok can weigh between 180 and 240 kg (400 and 530 lb), while females weigh 100–210 kg (220–460 lb).

Clarence, can you list in descending order your preference of these exotics for table fare?

Both male and female have horns which average around 33" in length. The male's horns are heavier at the base than the female and the female's horns tend to be thinner and slightly curved while longer than the bulls; both are formidable weapons. Females use them for defense of their offspring while males often use them to establish their territory.

It can be quite difficult to determine sex by appearance of horns, but it I had to guess, the above picture are bulls and these three are cows, at least the front one is for sure based on plumbing, and the others have slightly curved and slender horns. These pictures taken over the years so I cannot be sure.
