Your Pic of the Day

Thought about a mini 14 when I could no longer use the AR, but due to the bad rap they have for accuracy I ended up with the BAR in .308. Not thrilled with the accuracy, but finally got it to shoot 110 Varmageddons just over MOA. Probably could have coaxed that out of a mini with all the effort that went into squeezing the BAR. 🤣
Yep, mine came from a fellow who had worked out the kinks on everything except ejection. It shoots very well but, throws empties into the next county. I have deliberated a new adjustable gas block but there are so many other rifles to use. :D

Are you sure that is a boar??:ROFLMAO: LOL! We have a lot of gas/oilfield roads and producers will occasionally spray the roads with some sort of petroleum based liquid for dust control and the hogs have learned to wallow on the roadsides as that stuff must be an effective insect repellent. After wallowing they head for the trees and rub.
Back in the day, like 1940-1970 my grandpa had hog oilers. they were a round steel wheel that they could rub on. As the wheel turned it went down into a vat of diesel fuel/oil mixture. Was supposed to kill and keep lice off.

No sir, unfortunately, I never made it to Africa. All except the nilgai listed above are native of Africa, nilgai are from India.
All the pictures were taken in the Republic of Texas ;):D.
I have only hunted deer on our farm in MO. Someday I may have to try to make it to Texas. I have two boys, 13 and 16, and they are super good shots with bow and rifle. They outscore about 97% of the men in the 3D archery shoots. Several times they have won the men's categories.
I am getting close to retirement from teaching(33 years), so any year I can pull the plug. Then I will have the time to hunt some other places, just hope we can scrounge up the money.;)

I miss the days of multi colored cattle. We had mostly shorthorn mixed with a lot of other stuff. Now they are mainly black Angus and Charolais mix. My mom and my uncle went to a beef tasting meal in Texas about 20 years ago. Basically it was a large group of people and about 7 different breeds of cattle. Longhorn hands down won the flavor contest and Angus won the tenderness category. (people voted and they didn't know what breed the samples were)

That's interesting. These longhorns are on an adjacent ranch. I wonder why the longhorns have a better flavor? Not surprised that Angus won tenderness.
