East of the cascade mountain range is mule deer and whitetail. Western washington has blacktail. Theres actually some great big whitetail in the mountains out here, but deer numbers have declined massively, and its a shadow of what it was just 10 years ago.

Why is that?

Far too many predators. Periodic bluetongue outbreaks. The deer could bounce back from the bluetongue outbreaks if the cougar / wolf / bear numbers werent out of control.

I know this is a hunting predator site, but that log or whatever it is would be the perfect spot for a couple of sets, lol!! A little coyote or fox gland on the ends would get a double I’m sure.

Was raking hay in one of our alfalfa fields that we didn't touch in the last 2 years due to lack of rain and as I went around I thought to myself. "Oh yeah I had a trail cam on that tree a while back" then as I got closer I realized it was still there!
Completely forgotten it kept taking pictures for a long time lots of em of this bruiser. Worst part is the date's are all messed and I have no idea what year this was taken

It blew my mind! Just a cheap stealthcam with lithium batteries I had 2 and a half years of pictures! Not a high traffic area which helped I'm sure.

It was dead when I picked it up. Still have to replace batteries to confirm it's fully functional.

Cam check today. Lots of bears, yotes and mules. 3 wolves and a bobcat. No lions or moose or whitetail which was surprising.
