Well Perri,
This weekend was windy around here, and Sat. we had some snow, but nothing great. We thought with the full moon, we'd be able to get some night hunting scheduled, but nothing panned out. The winds were too high, and the snow melted, leaving visibility pretty poor we figured, but as it turned out, the moon never showed itself due to cloud cover.
I said to hell with it, and played catch up on vehicle maintenance.
Just because I blew it off....I paid my pennance....Sunday morning when I got up, with coffee in hand, I strolled over to our double doors that open out onto our deck, and looking out, what do I see ?????????
A nice female coyote standing behind the trees over in my neighbors back yard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My dog was out and the coyote was about 225yds. from our yard, just standing there.
My mutt was oblivious to the coyote's presence, but he likes to run around our yard barking his head off at nothing, and when he opened up with his incessant yapping, the coyote got spooked and headed across the field away from us.
I'm positive it was a female, and she had a nice pelt. Around this time of year, you see them out in the fields quite often around here.
Quite frustrating really....but that's the way it goes I guess.
This last week, or so, of hunting might show some promise.
Take care,
Bob
