This first one is going to be made into trapper hat. next one I will get tanned for hanger.Darn right thumbs up. I look at it like fishing, figure out a pattern/technique that will give repeating results. That looks like a tanned wall hanger to me!!!
I have my eye on a trapper hat. so first one is being made into that.Congrats NYHB. You'll always remember the first one. I shot my first one in October and am working to get it tanned. I'm planning on turning it into a wall hanger.
I have what I call the snipper box out my basement window. I have a bait at 60 yards that i have shot 5 fox out of this year. I then tried setting up a coyote bait at 100 Yards in woods. I trimmed out a shooting lane. After a month of baiting never a coyote. I did see tracks where one came in to about 20 yards and turned back. I came to conclusion they did not like seeing my house. wish it worked for me as its much warmer. Tell me about the Wi-Fi are you using a wifi cam instead of cell cam for detection?Congrats Spot and NYHB! You guys are working for them and making it happen. WTG! NYHB, you are going down the rabbit hole now. Permanent blinds, heaters, wifi, you know the deal. 06 will steer you right with the cozy amenities. I've been baiting now for probably 15+ years and still get wound up every fall getting things set up. I hunt from my house, so things are pretty simple. Sitting in the recliner now with the alarms on. Had a triple on the bait last night, but just a flyby. No shot. Standing by tonight...
Right on!spot very nice.
I got Luckey last night at 3:00am in the cold. The sexy savage 204 Ruger dropped her in her tracks at 42 Yards. No heaters for me as I hunting so close I thought they might smell propane. I did use up some hand warmers. Hard to believe that I hunted all kinds of animals all over the country, but this is the first coyote I ever killed. Doing it my own 23 acres just makes it more rewarding. Thanks to 6mm and spot and other members that have giving me help in setting up. After 45 years of hunting there isn't much in new experience, But this night hunting is getting me hooked.
Very interesting. I was trying to use Wi-Fi around my property, and I could not even get it work at 100 yards. i was checking into busters and they all seem very expensive for what I was trying to do. I even checked into hard wired security cameras, and it seem 300 feet is as far as you can run them. Now I am using drive way alarms and cell cam combo.NYHB, my bait is 170 yds from my house on a timbered hillside. I cut and maintain a shooting zone out to the site. I put up a radio dish on my house shooting wifi out to the site. I was using a solar powered Reolink live feed camera on the site. Worked perfectly. When the alarm went off, I could pull up the live feed instantly. I ran that for about 2 yrs, and that camera went bad. So, I ordered another one, same exact camera, and that one will not grab my wifi. Don't know why, junk, down graded internals, don't know. Now I'm running a Cuddeback cell cam, but that is not instant or immediate. That just gives me information on whether anything visited the site. So, short answer long, I'm still deciding whether to try yet another Reolink, or a different brand, I don't know. But, I'm still hunting and will be for years to come. Just have to play around with some more gadgets...
These are the ones I am using now. I like how you can set different tones for different baits. I have a rooster crow for the coyote bait and a owl hoot for the fox bait. THey work great for the bait I can see from house. when I am sitting in blind, I just use scope pointed at bait and stream to my phone sitting lower in blind. I like this because I can see the whole field of view works good expect one cold night the battery in phone didn't last. Last hunt I used a portable phone charger to prolong life of phone battery. These work well at my brother's place, I have 110v in the She shed/blind I built for the SIL. Batteries have lasted over a month in cold weather. Receiver 110, sensors 3 Aa. Eyes flash and tone is adjustable.View attachment 15051
