Baiting

From the time the picture was taken i was outside the house within 2 mins with my thermal and still couldn't catch him at the bait.. assuming it's the same one from last night that came in 3 different times about 2 hrs apart each visit

6mm I will check those motion sensors for any light. The trail camera is Meidase p70 only sold on amazon. I like them so much i bought like 10 of them. I just added there s900 model for cell use. that will be handy for bait. Deer hunting i really don't need cell ones. If you watch amazon, they have those p70 for 39.99 with a 30% off coupon. Just bought another a few days ago for 27.99. I just checked and there back up to 79.99 with 20% off, but if you watch you can catch them on sale P70

spot hopefully the chucks of pig fat will help. I just cut some venison scrape into small chucks to spread around It's unlikely that that deer will thaw before season closes at end of march. I do have it tied down to one lag so it can't be dragged.

Nex year I plan to set up a better station.

I had moved the Amish blind to a different field couple days ago. This morning I saw the deer had been fed on. 6:45 I heard 3-4 to the NE. Little after 7 a single worked in. Didn't stop at bait looked like it was wind checking the blind. Started to leave so I lip sqeeked and stopped it for the shot. Supposed to be close to -20(-35 wind chill). Going wait for awhile before I get pics.

I be heading out at midnight and try to stay warm. I thinking this cold weather going to make them hungry. 5 degrees and pretty windy I sure the wind chill is well below zero. wish i was in the Amish built box with windows that close tight. i using pop up with one window open.

I had a choice tonight popup or the insulated blind. -40 with the wind chill made my choice easy.

You guys are tougher than I am to sit in cold like that.
Yeah, that gets old real fast. That's the biggest advantage I've found with the cell cams. I haven't sat in my blind for almost 2 years. Coyotes just stopped hitting my bait. But back when they were, I rarely had a blank stand because I had developed somewhat of a pattern on the coyote coming in and wasn't wasting nearly as much time out in the shack waiting/hoping. I guess now the coyotes have got my set-up patterned :( More time for calling I guess.

Closest one is Monday night's (-40 windchill). Last night -11 temps, 12-14 mph winds, I was in the pop-up in the background next to the old silage wagon. Buddy heater, old sleeping bag covering legs and back. Sat for 3+ hours, when I had to pee. I called it, didn't want try and get back in bag, restart heater. Far one showed up about 2hrs into the sit, heard him 1/2 hr before north of me in the next section.

spot very nice.

I got Luckey last night at 3:00am in the cold. The sexy savage 204 Ruger dropped her in her tracks at 42 Yards. No heaters for me as I hunting so close I thought they might smell propane. I did use up some hand warmers. Hard to believe that I hunted all kinds of animals all over the country, but this is the first coyote I ever killed. Doing it my own 23 acres just makes it more rewarding. Thanks to 6mm and spot and other members that have giving me help in setting up. After 45 years of hunting there isn't much in new experience, But this night hunting is getting me hooked.
