Which .22-250 should I get? Sako or Savage?

If that shoots even half as good as it looks then you have a real winner there! Sweet looking rig for sure. Congrats!

I've owned a total of 5 Sako's. I've also owned a bunch of Remingtons and Brownings but hands down my favorite rifles are my Sakos. You made the good choice. Enjoy!

I bought a Savage 22/250 BVVS, had the barrel chambered to a 22/250 AI, this was the firing on the first set of groups at the rifle range. I have owned a flock of sako's customs and factory over the years, none ever shot like this. As crude as they are, I would bet my house that the savage would outshoot the Sako hands down. Sako 85's are darn nice actions to think of as a platform to build off of, but the savages keep on shooting very small groups that they should not. I hated Savages for many, many years. A p. dog hunting partner humbled me on many occasion with fantastic shooting...from clunky pieces of crap...salvages.

The man has already made his purchase decision, nonetheless, I wanted to throw in my $.02. I value nice things, but I'm a fairly pragmatic person. Although the buyer received his permit in just 7 weeks, he mentioned that sometimes it could take as long as a year or more to purchase a firearm. I would imagine that there is no such requirement to purchase a tube of metal with a hole through it, i.e. - a barrel. Were it me, knowing I may have to wait such a grueling period of time to purchase an additional rifle, I would probably have purchased the Savage, a barrel nut wrench, and a barrel vise. When the need arises (or want) I would have forgone the permit application period, purchased myself a barrel and some gauges, and had a world of calibers at the turn of nut. This of course is all under the assumption he can simply purchase a barrel, just like we do in the U.S. of A. He does have one fine lookin' rifle though, and obviously it'll shoot.

Disclaimer: I've never fired a Sako. I've killed many truck loads of game w/ a 110 chambered in 243.

Beautiful rifle!!

I purchased my first Sako 30 years ago at Sunset Sports, and they are all I own now. Vixens and 75's are my favorites.

Is anyone else not a huge fan of the accutrigger? Picked up a Savage 10 in .308 a while back. Great gun, though I'm 100% sold on the accutrigger yet. Maybe I just need to get used to it a bit more, but I find that needing to squeeze down the inner part of the trigger before getting to the actual trigger pull a bit off putting or something. I know a lot of people love them, and I might when I get used to it more, but i'm not there yet.

Never fired a Sako, but I've got a Tikka T3 in 22-250 and I love it. Tikkas are apparently machined on the same equipment as the Sakos, and Sakos being higher end, I can only imagine that they're nice guns.

I feel kind of the same. Once the inner part is depressed, the trigger does have a nice crisp break, but I find that needing to press that inner part makes the whole thing feel kinda mushy. I havent tried adjusting the pull weight yet, but I dont think that would make much difference for me, it's the inner part that throws me off, not the actual pull weight. Apparently they are really easy to adjust the weight on though, which is a plus. I'll reserve final judgment until I use it a bit more, but my initial thoughts on it are that it's not quite what I expected it to be. There was a big difference between pulling it in the store vs pulling it with a live round and crosshairs on something.
