Stools are cheaper

! Unfortunately as I’m getting older I’m finding it harder to do the all nighters even though I visit my chiropractor on a monthly basis. Standing for hours to a time & hiking definitely is harder ! I have used the folding stools off & on over the years.
Jmeddy & I have discussed this topic quite a bit over time as Mike always sits. Sitting here lately has been a relief on my body for sure & the little extra weight of the swivel seat is a plus.
Getting down to a lower profile has let me rest my elbow on my knee to have a better anchor point for a steadier shot. ( was able to skip chiropractor visit too
I can't stand for long periods, either so sitting is necessary, and yes, lower is better! I sit the entire stand w/rifle shouldered, resting on sticks so the only movement I have to make is to lower my head to look through scope (often a coyote will bust out into the sendero very close & be gone before you can shoulder a rifle). The short children's chair (w/added elbow rest), as Mick stated, is low enough for resting elbows on knees for bench rest-like stability and about 90-100* field of fire; sitting sidesaddle (45*) I can rest right elbow on armrest allowing for up to 180* field of fire by shifting sticks only. Fortunately no real hills here.
You guys from flat ground have a lot of options for stools. Us hill country people not so much. I need 3 legs that are adjustable and ALMOST NEVER are they the same length. The one I use is no longer made, only weighs 3#, swivels-which is mandatory, and has been repaired/strengthened a couple times. I hope it will last as long as I want to do this. "Double Up" led me to its replacement which I have but it weighs 10# so for now it just goes to the grandkids ball games and summer concerts in the local park.
Tried tripod stools, but soft sand + gopher tunnels ended up dumping and w/all the cactus that can get ugly, 4 legs necessary here. Had never seen a swivel stool like yours, Mick, but used one exactly like it w/a fabric seat/bag For a while; nylon seat made fairly easy to twist side to side, but looks like that swivel would be a lot better. Tried a few chairs and then found the kids' chair which I've used for years. I have patched the patches and nursed it along as Academy no longer sells this stool.
I quit running at 67 and started just speed walking and biking now I just walk/bike and row. 71 was still just like 66, my hills didn't seem to matter. 72 the same but the hills where a little steeper

. 72-1/2-now that is when the chit changed! 74 now and there is no level ground in these parts, so I just walk slower, and I do like the spots where my access is just within a couple hundred yards
I hear that, Mike, you're handling it well! I made it until I was 86 by hunting closer and closer to the jeep. Last year out kept within a hundred yards or so of the jeep. Was laid up w/heart issues after Covid 2 years ago and have been trying to get back out ever since, just not there yet. Keep going as long as you can, even if it is at a slower pace, because its a lot harder to get strength back, the longer you're down.
