I didn’t realize…

Mick, you're a troublemaker! Like I said, misery loves company.🤣
You're just not trying hard enough to spend money on a swivel stool/chair. Didn't take long w/a bit of help from Google to find just a couple that might help you part with a bit of pocket change. You don't have to thank me, just trying to help here.😉😉

COOL FOLDING ALUMINUM STOOL

OR THE FULL MEAL DEAL...THERE ARE MANY MORE TO CHOOSE FROM IT THIS IS NOT A FIT
😁
Just bought another stool, probably about number 10. Told the wife when I’m dead and gone people are going to think I had a stool fetish. I do appreciate your help ! Hope I can return the favor 😃 !

Luckily I’m not at the stool stage yet…but I figure with one more suppressor, thermal, caller, and tripod upgrade I should be done. So another $5K and I should be done. I’ll be posting my OnlyFans page soon or start a GoFundMe, lol!!

Lol. My evolution happened rather quickly. I hunted with red lights and then went with a cheap thermal and as with most things you get what you pay for. I went looking for a better set-up and I got into the I-ray 640 thermals. I'm a gear junky, always have been so it's only matter of time before I buy the next toy. I've gotten, a new caller, a scanner, a better tripod, a suppressor, more rifles, another suppressor. I can't help myself, and I'm afraid this condition is terminal...lol

Years ago I bought and ATN night vision scope from Cabelas that was defective; long story short returned it and never looked any further. Continued w/red light for a while and, having worked shift work for 9 years finally decided I could get more sleep and do more good in the daylight.:)

I hear that:ROFLMAO:.
I tried tripods and a number of 4 legged stools but finally settled on a kid's camp chair that was right height. Sitting on it diagonally, the back of chair provided a bit of an elbow rest. Added an elbow pad for better support.
No swivel but easy to cover 180* and my partner always covered my 6.

i can see some kind of lightweight stool in my future. standing behind the tripod is a great tactic and provides for fast action when needed. but standing 6 or more hours a night plus all the walking gets rough sometimes.

but....thats what chiropractors and massages are for :)
Stools are cheaper 😂 ! Unfortunately as I’m getting older I’m finding it harder to do the all nighters even though I visit my chiropractor on a monthly basis. Standing for hours to a time & hiking definitely is harder ! I have used the folding stools off & on over the years.
Jmeddy & I have discussed this topic quite a bit over time as Mike always sits. Sitting here lately has been a relief on my body for sure & the little extra weight of the swivel seat is a plus. Getting down to a lower profile has let me rest my elbow on my knee to have a better anchor point for a steadier shot. ( was able to skip chiropractor visit too 😜 )

I just recently received this stool. Looks like they removed the page for it ! I did have the wife lengthen the shoulder strap.

gonna have to find some more places with level fields and shorter walking distances when i go. i turn 66 this year, in 5 years (2030) i'll be 71 🤣
I quit running at 67 and started just speed walking and biking now I just walk/bike and row. 71 was still just like 66, my hills didn't seem to matter. 72 the same but the hills where a little steeper :). 72-1/2-now that is when the chit changed! 74 now and there is no level ground in these parts, so I just walk slower, and I do like the spots where my access is just within a couple hundred yards ;):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:.

You guys from flat ground have a lot of options for stools. Us hill country people not so much. I need 3 legs that are adjustable and ALMOST NEVER are they the same length. The one I use is no longer made, only weighs 3#, swivels-which is mandatory, and has been repaired/strengthened a couple times. I hope it will last as long as I want to do this. "Double Up" led me to its replacement which I have but it weighs 10# so for now it just goes to the grandkids ball games and summer concerts in the local park.

I can't stand for long periods, either so sitting is necessary, and yes, lower is better! I sit the entire stand w/rifle shouldered, resting on sticks so the only movement I have to make is to lower my head to look through scope (often a coyote will bust out into the sendero very close & be gone before you can shoulder a rifle). The short children's chair (w/added elbow rest), as Mick stated, is low enough for resting elbows on knees for bench rest-like stability and about 90-100* field of fire; sitting sidesaddle (45*) I can rest right elbow on armrest allowing for up to 180* field of fire by shifting sticks only. Fortunately no real hills here.

Tried tripod stools, but soft sand + gopher tunnels ended up dumping and w/all the cactus that can get ugly, 4 legs necessary here. Had never seen a swivel stool like yours, Mick, but used one exactly like it w/a fabric seat/bag For a while; nylon seat made fairly easy to twist side to side, but looks like that swivel would be a lot better. Tried a few chairs and then found the kids' chair which I've used for years. I have patched the patches and nursed it along as Academy no longer sells this stool.

I hear that, Mike, you're handling it well! I made it until I was 86 by hunting closer and closer to the jeep. Last year out kept within a hundred yards or so of the jeep. Was laid up w/heart issues after Covid 2 years ago and have been trying to get back out ever since, just not there yet. Keep going as long as you can, even if it is at a slower pace, because its a lot harder to get strength back, the longer you're down.
