Help with TSS

Just read the Utah Regs which said a $50 bounty and a whole list of things to do to collect the money. They don’t exactly make it easy do they, lol.

It was $50 statewide until this year, they added an extra $50 per Coyote in certain areas which is where I hunt 90% of the time. It is pretty easy to do. Cut off the Lower jaw, and ears. GPS coordinates where you shot it. That’s it. Takes 5 minutes.

I’m still out. That bounty has made some of the most, if not the most, educated coyotes in the U.S. Like I mean it’s absurd, Don’t get me wrong, I love a challenge. But that was a long 14 days I spent up there the last time I was there. We killed a few, but not nearly what we should’ve. Majority of the ones we killed were 350-500yd shots cause you couldn’t even lip squeak without them setting the desert on fire trying to get out

Only in the beginning. Bunch of guys thought it would be easy money, but they almost all gave up on it pretty quickly. When Utah got kind of tired of paying bounty on Nevada coyotes, they changed the rules a bit and most guys I know just quit even bothering to collect the bounty after that. It never changed how much they hunted, one way or the other.

Thing is, there has always been a ton of pressure. The killers have always been around and they didn't go anywhere because of the bounty, just kept doing what they do. But between the long time killers, the annual crop of clueless noobs, the farmers and ranchers, the guys who just always have a gun and shoot at everything, etc., coyotes here have ALWAYS been highly pressured. Hell, in the 70's, a good year of calling could buy you a brand new pickup truck from your fur check. THAT was PRESSURE. Nowadays, there are just three times as many people all crammed into even less space. So more callers in less area. But that isn't because of the bounty.

Long winded. But coyotes have always been cross wired all to hell around here. The bounty only made it worse in certain places and really only for the first year I think. But it wasn't that much different than it has always been.

That’s interesting, it makes sense too. I’d bet that 70s fur price really did put a lot of pressure too. Holy smokes

By the way, the comment I made about three times as many people is not an exaggeration. In 1970 the population of Utah was right at 1 million. Today it is just under 3.5 million. Where all those people live and work and shop used to be good hunting but it's all developed now. There really are three times as many people and a lot less space for them all.

Nice thing about hunting in Utah they just increased the Bounty to $100 a coyote. And with the TSS shot, 1 shot usually equals a dead coyote. So $55 dollars for a box of five= $500 in coyotes. Pretty good return on my money I would say.😉

A hundred dollar bounty on yotes, really? Wonder how much they pay out each year, thats crazy.

I don’t know how much they pay out each year. But they have been paying $50 a Coyote each year since 2012. Me and my Brother have killed around 300 Utah Coyotes that we have turned in for the bounty, so we’ve received about $15,000 in that time….So I’m excited it now $100……
