Coyote rifle

Good Point, Saving hides for sale.. 22-250….223… killing dead and no sale… anything you want to pack around… For Missouri… 30 plus years of 22-250…..

So many good choices, but for general coyote calling I usually recommend a 22-250. I have use a 17 HMR, 17 Mach IV, several in between to up to 243. Now days I generally carry a 223 or a 20 Practical. If fur prices go up, then I will break out the 17 Rem..

I shoot a 22-250 chopped to 18'' for a suppressor. Gun weighs in a little over 10 lbs...personally I like a heavier gun as I don't have to walk far to my stands and the gun is easier to shoot. Also can see all impacts through the scope.

I have owned a bunch of different Coyote guns over the last 35+ years of calling Coyotes. Everything from .17 Ackley Hornet to a .270 Winchester. And the closest I’ve found personally to the perfect Coyote gun for all around use is my .22-250 Ackley Improved. It’s got a .700 stainless 22” barrel and is now suppressed. Not to hard on fur, shoots amazing groups, kills Coyotes very well out to 400 yards, not to heavy. Just about perfect.

Came across a Howa Mini in 223 with a 20” HB and 10 shot magazine. Looks interesting
I have the same rifle in 6 arc. It’s my main night time coyote rifle. I love it. With that said, for day hunting where I’m walking more. I’m shooting off sticks/bipod instead of using a tripod. And I’m mainly shooting from a seated position, I kinda prefer my tikka t3x lite 223. It’s like a good fitting shotgun, it just swings better.

I mainly night hunting and my rifle sits on a pod, so I don't mind the weight. It actually helps steady the rifle for longer shots. My current favorite rig is a Savage Axis XP, in an MDT Oryx chassis, with a 26" Shilen varmint contour. 7/8" at the muzzle I think. Chambered in the Ol' 243 Win. For day hunting I definitely prefer a lighter rifle in 22-250 or 243.

I want to add a little bit to this topic, I picked up a Remington, model ADL, 1966 production, 22-250 caliber. I have owned a few of these older rifles and some still shoot excellent. I went ahead and changed out the trigger as the original was set at 1 lb., now a Timney at 2.5 lbs., a little better for this man. The barrel measures 23.5 inches from the front of the recoil lug and is in fine shape. [ sporter barrel] I had it on the range last week and it is a keeper, loading some varget , 52 hp, 3 shots touching at 100 yards. I loaded some h380, results were the same, slightly better with h380, anyway, she is ready to go I will try a couple of spots in this weekend and see what happens. I have never been too afraid to pick up these older rifles, yes, some are beyond repair, but this one will be around a little longer. Now, if I can figure out the posting of pictures using my fat fingers.

For the most part I use a 223 when I go out west my 22 Creedmoor is my favorite and I'm using it more here at home now.
Weren't you the guy that killed one a few years ago with a .380 carry pistol? Seems like I remember that happening. Took about 12 shots, with 1 miss, 10 in the ears and 1 in the head. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

All I want is my rifle to weigh less than 10lbs with thermal, suppressor, and full mag. And I want the largest caliber I can do that with, lol.

Finally got pic up, maybe the other tomorrow... 100 yards, 1966 Remington Sporter ADL, 22-250. 52gr. HP. Varget… I only use a Harris 6–9-inch bipod in the front of my rifle, one sandbag to seat my bipod against... and a waded-up welding glove on the toe of my stock…. Cold barrel every shot… it was cold the day I shot, 25 I believe... no wind… 25 is cold for me….
Rifle Pic above… I left the stock pad installed… that’s how I shoot the rifle.
