China tariffs and thermals

Wow, guess the first to wave the white flag if invaded has revealed themselves.

Yeah Dave it will take some time for manufacturers to get manufacturing in the US, I’m sure the “idiot in the Oval Office” does realize this, it’s getting the process started that seems difficult for the naysayers to understand. If you can’t understand the tariffs or what’s going on then I’m guessing you are not a business man of any kind. It still blows my mind that people (you) are fine with other Countries screwing us over, but get highly upset if we try to even the odds. Personally I think our Country needs to be as self sufficient and sustaining as possible. If that causes some “discomfort” in the process, so be it.

I own my own company. I understand tariffs. Tariffs are a tax on US citizens, not China. You have the cart before the horse. You don't start a war and then seek to arm yourself. Idiot Trumps plan is backassward.

I saw the current mentality all the time in martial arts. The untrained fighters think enthusiasm is a substitute for skill and strategy in fighting.

"We have to do something" is not a plan.

No. I hate the globalists as much as you do. But, I know how to fight smart. Idiot Trump is not fighting smart. He pulled the plug on our economy with no viable replacement for things we CAN'T make right now.

The intelligent solution involves patience. We should be offering tax breaks and incentives to bring back manufacturing. That would take time. We also need honest money instead of fiat currency created by a private cartel of banks called the Federal Reserve. Our constitution states that gold and silver are money, not the pieces of debt based paper in your wallet. We need to peg the dollar to gold and eliminate the illegal Federal income tax.

That is how you flip the monopoly board over and actually win. Not with retarded bluster and bullying from a position of weakness.

I used to say the same thing about giving companies tax breaks until I watched company after company come into these low income areas just long enough to get the tax break then close their doors and move as soon as the tax breaks ran out. Then what are you left with? The same as you started with, unemployed people... oh you may did get a building that no one else wants because it was built/set up specifically for that company's needs.

Serious question.

As a company owner, where do you draw the line between profit and greed?

So many companies keep raising the prices of their goods blaming it on inflation, yet they are making record profits.

Before I start to sound like a liberal, this is where I differ....

I don't think it's the government's job to correct these things, I think it's the people's. Imagine if just 50% of the population didn't shop at Wal-Mart for a week.

Lets look at it from a different angle. Wages. US wages are nearly highest in the world, mostly due to unions. > 50% of product cost is wages. The large discrepancy between available 'cheap' labor between US and rest of the world. Japan took a long time before they could produce much, lots of 'Willkie button' metal re-imported into the US. Same with rest of Asia. Companies (US and EU) went to Mexico, then Asia for production. German optics had best glass till Japan found a better way. US steel companies started off-shoring all but the expensive alloys. Pretty easy path to recognize.

As I've said before. We want high wages and cheap prices. Those things just don't go together.

Now if you want to bring other countries like Japan into the mix. Their companies are loyal to their employees unlike US companies.

I would make the case that US wages are the highest in the world because the US Government has debased our money supply with endless printing. The value of the dollar has been printed away to almost nothing. Our dishonest money system is the culprit. I'm not a fan of unions. But, they are not what is driving the problem.

By the way, the world is not cheating America. America is cheating the world. The world sends us their products. We send them pieces of paper created out of thin air.

if U.S. tariffs on Chinas products are a tax on US and not China, then wouldnt China tariffs be a tax on them and not raise prices here. I dunno

In a free capitalist society with honest currency, excess prices are controlled by competition. America is basically a fascist country. Fascism is also defined as corporatism. Corporations team with government to create monopolies.

Our problems are so deep and comprehensive it boggles the mind. Blaming the world is not the answer. We have done this to ourselves.

with out unions we wouldnt have the wages and especially the healthcare we have now.

You know Dave, I may sound crazy, but I am starting to think the same thing. They keep saying we are in debt, but like I heard someone else say, "who do we owe, the Decepticons"?

I really am starting to think that our money system is just a made up fantasy. We need more? Just print it.

America is the least healthy country in the world. It is sick care under control of Pharma companies designed to extract your wealth before you die from their poisons.

Every debt based fiat based money system in history eventually collapses. Only gold and silver is money. Gold and silver can't be printed on a computer. So, governments under a gold based system are forced to live within their means. Gold and Silver do not depend on someone else's promise to pay. They just are.

Most people work their whole lives for "money". But, they have no idea what real money is. The things in your wallet are not money. They are IOUs created out of thin air by a private cartel of banks known as the Federal Reserve. It is not Federal. And, there is no Reserve.

I agree. My g/f is from another country. We recently visited her country. You hardly ever see any overweight people. Even the homeless people look better than the average American. When I was there I compared the food labels of American products sold over there vs over here. Same product, drastically different ingredients. We have been together for 5 years and she has yet to be sick, flu, covid, etc. And she's a BSN so she's around sick people everyday.

Every once in a while, I will watch Youtube videos from the 70's. No fat people. Remember the movie, Smokey and the Bandit? We laughed uncontrollably at how fat the Sheriff was. Now, he would be considered normal.

It is the GMO and chemicals in the food and the vaccines.

I weigh the same at 63 that I did as a high school wrestler and have a 32" waist. I eat practically no processed food.

I admire your will power because I am a sucker for a Little Debbie.

"So, governments under a gold based system are forced to live within their means." Didn't work well for the Roman Empire. Or Egypt. Or the Ottoman Empire.

If we have a tariff war with China and it last long enough other countries will fill the gaps. The Philippians, S. Korea are already doing that with standard optic. African and S. American countries could have a potential to get into markets we've never seen them in.

Simple solution, hunt days, you don't even need a scope, hunters did that for a lot longer than we had scopes.

For the people by the people, ANYTHING else is unacceptable. That only is possible here, most want to keep it that way. We already support the healthcare of the world, that's enough. Other countries need to provide their own military, technology, intellectual development. Trump is pro America and he will do what is necessary to make sure the US taxpayer is not taken advantage of.
