Biggest coyote I ever got.

Big ole coyote. Congrats. My biggest is nowhere near that. 42 lbs if I remember correctly. Was a tough 1/2 mile drag in deep snow. That I remember.

You know it is funny, I am in my mid-fifties and I have been hunting them since I was about 16. I never even thought to hand one on the scale until this one. I would say most of the ones I get average between 25 and 35. However on this one, after I shot him and walked out to collect him, I knew this one was something different. Now the reason I was hunting this area is because some friends of my wife ranch cattle in the area and they were having coyote troubles. They told me they had a bull that died and in one evening the coyotes had got at the carcass hard. Maybe this guy was just eating really well. Damn if he didn't have big paws though. Oh well, maybe I never get one that big again but I can't wait to get the hide done. I just got another load of hides back. I will post them on a different thread.

Shot 1 about 3 years ago in a river bottom before daylight that was my biggest, never thought about weighing them but maybe it's time to buy a scale, always wonder about deer we shoot. 150g coreloks out of a 300wm is rough on them lol

Gentlemen, I present Fred. Fred is the biggest coyote I have ever got. Fred's hobbies included, long walks by the creek in the moonlight, being a ladies man and listening to to his favorite song, "Grey Fox Screaming." There are probably guys out there that have got bigger ones but for me this is the largest specimen I ever bagged. I hung him on the scale and he was just shy of 56 pounds. Going to be the prize hide of the year. Got him at about 150 yards with a 36 grain varmint grenade out of the 22-250. in loving memory of Fred.

Nice coyote. I killed a 50 lb male & another larger male I didn't weigh.

This is probably the biggest coyote I've seen. Wasn't mine, bought the carcass from a young kid a few years ago. Didn't weigh him but wish I did. The one next to him was an average sized 27-30 lb coyote. That sure is going to be a purdy hide Megalon!

Killed a big male that won *big dog* (with a nice paycheck) at a calling contest in Springfield, CO many years ago. He weighed 48 lbs which is huge for a CO coyote. Could tell that guy had been feasting on a carcass somewhere for several days.

Killed a few more odd ball giants like him over the years that may of came close to his weight but never had a scale handy.

That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Good to hear you're saving the hides. I got a 45lb'er the other night and thought that was pretty big, 56 is huge.

I hear about these monsters all the time but I'm yet to see a picture of a 50lber plus on a scale in a legitimate setting, with it being so rare surely you have a picture of it on the scales??

Looked as big as some german shepherds, got into the deer bushes long before daylight as the moon was full, would never shoot a deer like that but couldn’t pass it, buddy text me and said it’s a might early 😂, never to early to bust a yote

For a while, I carried an electronic fish scale with me. Berkeley I think made it. I weighed bobcats and coyotes I killed for several years. It is an eye-opener, just like weighing your fish. They are nearly all smaller than you think. I think the biggest coyote I ever weighed was 42 pounds for a big male. Most coyotes were low to mid-30s. The biggest bobcat was 27 pounds. After doing that for several years I knew that I had killed both a larger coyote and a bobcat before I started weighing them. From that experience, I think my biggest coyote was probably 47-50 pounds. The biggest cat may be in the 30-pound range.
