Wide FOV thermal scanner

Wanted to dig this post up again to see if there are any current production models with wide FOV. Seems like 17.5 degrees is about as wide as it gets, with the exception of the FLIR Scout Pro @ 32 degrees.
Am I missing other models with wide FOV that have come out?

I use helion xp28's but I've been researching the best big fov handheld recently. I think the Axion xg30 looks pretty good or am I missing something?

14.6 degrees horizontal fov if I'm reading that right. I'm so used to the wider fov of the old quantum and the flir scion and am surprised the industry offerings are narrower fov. I don't hunt wide open areas which is why that wide fov is handy.

Ive used several scanners over the years with 10 too 13 degrees horizontal FOV and have been very happy with my current Pulsar Telos XP50 and AGM Seeker 25.

Plenty FOV in my opinion and i can ID farther with the 640 unit.

Im not against having more FOV by any means but it usually has its cons as well on ID range with the lower base Mag starting out.

I would like too see a nice scanner at about 1.75 or 1.8x at 640 or more resolution with a wider FOV than whats currently available.

I do however get by just fine with my 2.5x base scanners here in my neck of the woods!

Since last years post, I sold the Phenom & bought the Iray Micro 640 RH25 due to it's 17.5 degree FOV & 1.3X.

So much easier to not have to frantically scan when in tight quarters.

The new V2 was not out yet when I bought mine, which Skinney speaks highly of.

I used a pulsar axion 2 XQ 35, an excellent device.
I bought a pulsar compact XG35 20 days ago.
great device, coyote detection (jackal in my country) is 1100 yards.
the screen is smaller, everything else is perfect!!!

Is the iray finder the equivalent monocular/core/ image quality to the iray micro? I'm thinking less expensive since it's not a multi role device yet still have the same fov & image quality.

I can't answer that, as I've not looked through a finder. The specs say so, but I'm not sure if it carries over in real life.

I did consider one while on my journey for a new scanner, but it's FOV, at 12.6, was a bit less than the 13 of the Phenom that I already had. The Micro has a 17.5 degree FOV.

The Iray finder has a very good image for the price and the rangefinder works very well.

I really liked the image. Battery life was what got me and i ended up selling mine.

I wish Pulsar would make new Scanner with Wide Field of view and about 1.5-1.75x base mag!

Its going too be hard too find a new scanner with the field of view of the old Pulsar Helion XP28s!

I also have the FLIR Scion OTM266. It is the first decent 640 core scanner I have found. I don't think there will be a significant performance improvement until we get to the 1024 core units someday. Anything else on the market will be a marginal improvement until then.
