OK, I've got a question for whoever. I had 1 of my posts edited (censored) recently and received the obligatory personal message. Should I take that as a hint that I'm on the verge of suspension, or worse? I still stand by what I said in that post...it is sad what has happened here lately. What prompted that statement? A guy posted a legit question about a popular brand of e-caller and couldn't get a straight answer (posted on the board anyway) on what is supposed to be the premier predator hunting board in existence.
Since then I've received a better explanation as to the why's and wherefore's. But I'm still a little ruffled over the censorship. Pretty sure the 4 words I posted didn't violate anything in the TOS. I'm pretty sure most everybody knows what brand e-caller I use, so what I said certainly wasn't brand biased. And I'm not the type to stir things up that don't deserve to be stirred. I like it here, I've met some great people, and I don't like being involved in controversy, but I do speak my mind. I hope things calm down. PM has great potential, but I don't know about running big name sponsors. What message were you trying to send? What message did you think would be perceived? Not everybody got the personal attention that I did. Most are running down the trail that the obvious sign led them, and WHO benefits from that?

Whatever Tom's (or anyone else's) situation with the management here was, I don't know...or care. I come here to socialize with friends and to learn about something that interests me. If or when I think that PM is doing something wrong or unfair with the membership, I'll go elsewhere. I'm not tied to this place or otherwise have any vested interest. I get along fine with "most" of the membership, and consider them my friends. While it would be a little bit unnerving for a while to be mis-placed from the members here, it surely wouldn't be the end of my world. I'm sure that there are many, many "groups" out there that would reject me as a member for whatever reasons. So be it. Who in the world would want to be saddled with the knowledge that they are in a place where they are only being tolerated rather than valued? I know that I wouldn't.

I think the problem people have with Tom is that he is a man who works with facts......there are a whole bunch of people who don't like people who work in facts. It messes up their opinions...........
About the time an organization gets big enough they start pushing their way thru the memorship just to see what will be tolerated, the memorship will go elsewhere. Just like Hildago said...this isn't the only game in town my friend.

I've said it before, and I'll now say it again. I personally think that the staff here does a great job of keeping all of us rowdys in line. I've only had one run-in with a moderator, and as far as that's concerned I'm over it.
Now I'm going back in the photo forum to see if Tripod has posted any more pics of gir......I mean, wildlife. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I came back here to see what is going on after taking a little break from the site.
I see that the same old crap from the same old type of people is still going on.
I sometimes find it hard to believe how much drama people need in there life. Getting it from behind the monitor of the computer is definately one place to get it but I prefer to get out with my friends and family and have some fun with them instead of having fun at other peoples expense over the net.
I don't quite understand why people can't figure out that going against the grain, or crossing the line of the TOS, or insulting people even though you think you are being cleaver about it won't get you noticed and or won't get you a spanking in the form of a suspension or a banning. It is kinda like the friend that keeps on sticking their finger in the light socket and getting zapped and wondering why.
I also don't know why people can't understand why even though a perceived generally good person can't get banned for crossing the line. It doesn't matter who you are. You cross the line, your gone. How long depends on how far you crossed the line. This happens in life all the time.
As well, sometimes the business on the net is not everyones business. Sometimes your nose doesn't need to be everywhere. Sometimes when you register as "whomever" on a site, you should just take care of whatever happens to you and keep you nose out of everyone elses business.
I guess sometimes life little lessons just come harder to some than others. Just like little Johnny in the back of the class that has to stay that extra year in grade 2 while everyone else moves on.

Please be advised that I did not receive any warning that I had "violated the TOS" or that I could be suspended, or even banned. I still do not know what I was banned for. I have asked for the specific reason(s), but have only been given generic, non-descript mumbo-jumbo. There wasn't any warning, just a shot behind the ear.
Could it be my opinion about shooting milk-toothed pups off the den, just because it's "legal"? Is it because I will defend people like Rich, Vic, Cal and others? Maybe it's because I call a spade a spade, when I see it?
MJM mentioned "racial intolerance" as one of my flaws. He must be referring to my hard stand on illegal aliens. Or maybe he meant my opinion of 3rd generation welfare recipients? So, by that reasoning I guess Tom Tancredo or Joe Arpaio wouldn't last long around here either, lol.
I was invited to join PM by its founder and my friend, Will Craig. I have been a member from the very beginning. I have made an awful lot of great friends here, and apparently, an enemy or two. Well, don't expect me to become a politically correct lackey just to fit in. It wasn't necessary for the first 7-8 years I was here, and I'm too set in my ways to do a flip-flop now. When speaking your mind becomes outlawed, only outlaws will speak their mind.
Steve, since I can't post in my "defense", you have my permission to post this, if you see fit. PM is still the best, even if its Administrators stray off course, or get unnecessarily heavy-handed. My best to all 20,000 of you dog shooters, no matter what you think.

That is not true. There has never been anyone banned from this site, to my knowledge who has not claimed the same thing. I have expLained the process, and this is exactly the reason PM does not post details of disciplinary actions.
If anyone wants to discuss policy , fine, but it has never been our policy to discuss specific cases. The reason for that is also in this thread.

I've been following this thing from it's infancy, hoping it would die a quick, painless death and now am compelled to bloviate a bit myself. I don't know NASA personally but respect him anyway. He's someone I specifically prayed for when he was facing surgery. It's probably not an everyday occurrence to pray for a near total "stranger", but that's an example of how special this place is. He and I have had a few disagreements, but it's of no matter now and never came to mind when he asked for prayer. I believe he'd do the same for me as would most of the other guys on the board. It's strictly speculation, but some comments directed toward certain segments of our society is probably what got him banned. I'm not easily offended and far from sensitive but some of his statements really took me back. At the same time I was thinking, "I don't think the mods would put up with this for long" and I guess they didn't. This happened on more than one occasion. But, it may be for other reasons, like I said, its pure speculation on my part. I took a gander at the "other" boards and was far from impressed. They came across as bitter children who didn't like the playground rules and gathered up their marbles to play across the street, but still close enough to hurl insults at the "losers" they left behind. That is what they are currently doing- copying and pasting posts from this thread onto theirs. I don't much care what someone thinks of me either, but why give them ammo? I don't see anything positive coming from it. If I can earn your respect, fine. If not, that's fine too and we can stay out of each other's way. I do find it VERY hard to believe that NASA's banning came from out of nowhere with no warning. Being a "little" opinionated myself, I've inched across the line a few times and was gently reminded of where the line was. It left me respecting the mods even more instead of giving me an "I'll show them" attitude. Thankfully the line is a mostly stationary target and reduces a bunch of confusion. I'm no lawyer, but the TOS read pretty straight forward to me. As long as the rules are applied fairly and consistently, problems should me minimal and if only 40 members have been banned in all this time it is minimal IMO. For us Joe Predatorcallers it's easy to trash the mods. We get to enjoy the site with out all the drudgery and work involved to keep it running. Until I've walked a mile in their shoes, I've got no business complaining. To keep this the best hunting forum on the net may I suggest the following. Mods, apply the rules consistently. Keep things as transparent as possible, while maintaining member privacy. Keep it a family site. The language used on the other boards was revealing to those folk's character- or lack thereof. They sound off as potty mouthed children who never got the beating they desperately deserved. Members, take a warning from the mods seriously- they mean it. Give them a break. You really have no idea of the crap they endure. Rant over.
