Visible laser for pinpointing down animals>

If they go down in high grass, or disappear over an embankment, they won't show up with scanner until you are on top of em. And a field can look entirely different after you walk 300 yds out to the spot. This does a good job of leading you the last spot they were seen.
This was my take on it as well. Probably would rarely need it, but can think of 1 time last year it would've been useful, and once this year already.

I got my cheap Amazon laser all set up yesterday. I was very unimpressed with it at first using it in the day. Once the sun set, I was pleasantly surprised how well I could see it out to 214 yards. I think it will be fine to 300, maybe further. For $38, I can't complain.

Civilian legal lasers are not bright enough to use in the daylight except for really close range. But at night they are amazingly useful. And if there is any humidity, etc in the air it looks like a light saber and is visible for several hundred yards.

How did you set it up? On your rifle?

I put it on a pic rail I had laying around on the front/right side of the hand guard. There is a M-lok version of the laser I bought but I think it would be too tight to the handguard and get blocked by my suppressor. I didn't want to chance it so I opted for the pic option. On the bottom of the hand guard was my initial thought since it would be in line with the barrel, but I think it's easier to hit the on/off switch with it on the side. Probably wouldn't matter either way.

On my bolt gun and thermion I use a small 30mm pic rail clamp and the laser is mtd at about a 45* to miss the controls of the scope.
