Thumb hole stock. Good or bad?

I tend to prefer vertical grip stocks but have two rifles with thumbhole stocks. One is my T/C Omega and the other is my Ruger Hawkeye. I like them both and I like they way my hand fits the stock but I will say they are a little cumbersome to carry when walking, unless its on a sling.

I got Boyd's thumbhole for my CVA single shot. Worked OK I just didn't like it. A little chunky for me. Other makers have plastic ones that might be better.

Thumbhole stocks with flat forends are great on shooting tables and prairie dog towns! Comfortable for all day shooting. As said , they can be a bit cumbersome for traditional hunting.
