Smaller binocular thoughts.

Ordered yesterday and arrived this morning. I like them, they should do exactly what I want. I took them out and focussed them, would have no problem finding a jackrabbit under the mesquite a couple hundred yards away. I sat and looked at a lot of things, street signs, highway signs, mountains in the distance, and scanned the mesquite thicket across the way. I'm well satisfied with them. They are surprisingly very solid feeling, at the price I expected them to feel cheaper.

Dr apt tomorrow and some fish to smoke in the afternoon. Will get out hunting on Friday and next week, I leave the weekends for the working guys.

I'll take a pic alongside my 8x42s after lunch.

Thinking about getting the Vortex Diamondback 8x32 HDs for my kid. Do you still like them?

I have had a pair of Nikon 10x32 Premier LX I bought probably 20 years ago that have really served me well. I think they cost about $1000 dollars when I bought them and are no longer made.

What model are those? Thx

I always carry binoculars to scan distant brush lines when needed. Used a Lockdown harness w/Steiner Prism 10x40 (IIRC) for years. They were big binoculars but I got used to them and the harness held them tight to chest when not in use. Then I won a pair of Brunton 10.5 x 43's; much more compact than the prism binoculars. Bought a Vortex chest bag, but the straps were not as comfortable as the old harness, so I cannibalized the harness and bred it to the bag. Great combo and the bag has a small (elastic) mesh pocket which is a perfect fit for my Fx5 remote which I then tethered to the harness with a carabiner (haven't had to go back to a stand to retrieve my remote ever since :ROFLMAO:). The two snaps I added to harness hold my two favorite hand calls on a very short lanyard so as to be easily removed when the battery dies or...........

Another option, my son carries binoculars w/strap across his shoulders (like a ladies handbag) w/binoculars under his left (off) armpit. I tried that and couldn't get used to it, but didn't give it a fair test in the field.
