Scouting a 30+ mile road into the woods (advice wanted)

Sounds like a plan. Shouldn't be much traffic since the road will be blocked by snow.

I better get on it fast then before the snow melts. The c.o. Thinks another month and it will be all gone

I’m not sure what you mean, my understanding of terrain is awful

Cove is horse shoe shaped (use your imagination ).
You sit on one side of the shoe calling towards the other side of the shoe with hopes the coyote will travel the shoreline to get to you.
At least that's what I think he's talking about.

What about some narrow coves with open terrain and calling to opposite shore or hill?

Or at the end of the cove and you can watch both shorelines, when the wind is right.

Never thought to use the water in my calling other than having my scent blowing back into it, thanks guys!

Also, if I need to start getting into the woods at night I thought I’d try out my headlamp. I coloured a few layers of plastic wrap red to make a red lens and went for a 15 minute walk into the woods behind my house just now. That was spooky…I might have to buy some depends and wear them in case I startle a moose…even a rabbit and I probably would have jumped. Very different energy at night my goodness
