Scanner paid off

Went this evening to make a coyote stand at the back of the property. Drove in and parked. Got all my gear and started walking to where I want to get and set the tripod and rifle up. Double checked the wind and went out and set up the Icotec.
Got back to my tripod and started scanning. Scanned sorta back the way I’d come and spotted something “black” in the scanner. Took a step back to get a better look in the brush and saw the big pig. Once I spotted it I could see smaller piglets.
I got on the rifle and had to move up a few steps until I could finally get a decent look in the scope. I figured the 165gr CoreLokts would punch through anything in the way and sent it, lol.

Yeah, this particular hog was showing up at 0430 every morning, then switched to 0530. I had the alarm set for 0500 that morning and he showed up at 0130 so I went back to bed.
I just got lucky last night with the cold weather and him coming in early.
When folks call and pay to have hogs removed, it’s definitely a “job”. Especially if you have a regular 8-5 job and do this on the side.

We don't have them, and I certainly don't want them. That said, I wouldn't mind tipping a few of them over at some point just to say I did it! I can easily see how it becomes work dealing with them.

Do the wild hogs eat the dead ones? If you throw a road killed deer into a hog pen up here, they will devour it very quickly.
I wouldn’t say they flock to them, but I have killed them over a dead hog before. If they’re off the beaten path I let them lay. If they’re in a field like the last one, I’ll drag them off so the buzzards can get to them fairly quick. Winter time kills don’t last long especially now that deer season is over, lol.
Just got a call some have showed up on the South side of the property. Once this wintery mix is over I’ll move the camera and get on those when they give me a pattern I can work with.
