Richards Micro Fit

Mine was a long wait after ordering and took quite a bit of work in the action area. Other than that it has been a good investment.

I have one on my 10/17M2 and like Brute, it took a little fitting for the action, but the weight gives me much more stability and accuracy..

Just got mine last week. They promised delivery in 8 weeks. It was actually 9. I can live with that. My first impression is that it is a very nice stock for the price. I don't have my barreled action back from my smith yet, but the inletting looks good. I will be doing some shaping on the outside, but I'm very happy so far.

I think you could go to stockystocks and find the same delivered In a week. I wouldnt wait that long unless someone was hand making me a stock, and that still is only 30 hours worth of work from a blank.

You can get a very nice stock from them, it will take every minute of the time they quote you and will look like a beaver with dentures cut it. But with some work you can get a great stock. I ordered mine woth AAA wood with an extra wide forearm for a Cooper look. They messed up the grip cap and tip as it was ordered vertical with out the white, not slanted. But I wasn't going to wait again.

I've ordered a couple from them and both were decent stocks. You can order them with deep inletting to allow for glass bedding. They have also improved their inletting over the past few years, at least for common rifle actions. They're not a "drop-in" by any means, but then few wood stocks truly are.

As others have stated, the stock took a little while to come in, and needed a little inletting work. If you are a mildly experienced woodworker you should have no trouble making a fine looking stock out of them.

Maybe,,,, but they're not just making ONE stock for One person.
They're making hundreds of stocks for hundreds of people per week, so I don't see the comparison.
Please enlighten me.

i can have a custom stock made for me that is peened, oiled, inletted and bedded in about 5 days. now i know they make more than one stock. im also sure that they have a whole assembley line to make these stock, then you have to inlet and finish??? id rather get a stock the way i wanted it if im paying that much for it. if you like them thats fine, i waited 6 months for my barreled action, i dont see the need to wait that long for a stock that isnt ready to drop into.

Richards have a great choice of wood and eight weeks is pretty good. I have found 9 or 10 is more like it. If you are going to camo paint the stock check out Boyd''s for stocks. They have all kinds in stocks and they are finished. Most are drop in's. Glass bed it, spray it and go hunt.

I should have mentioned that I ordered one of their "seconds." They advertise them as having "minor cosmetic defects," which, if mine is typical, is an overstatement. I had to look mine over very carefully to find where the defect (there is only one) is. I got the A grade fancy w/a recoil pad installed for $79. I think that by the time I do final shaping and sanding, the defect may not even be visible, and it is a very nice piece of wood. It should make a nice rifle that I will be proud to show off next to any of my others.
