Don't have a "stockpile" of em wise guy, but since you're the expert, how about posting up a link to a "stockpile" of em (or just one for that matter) that sold at or even near 1500.00. Not just listed, but actually sold.

Again,,, it's just gun grade walnut whittled out to fit a BDL. Nothing special about it and as stated above, " it's easily replacable".
It obviously has no sentimental value to you since you're willing to sell it so go hunting and enjoy it for what it is. A well made rifle that not everyone else has.

If this I true, it only shows that there are a lot of dumbasse$ in the world. The gun is not worth near $1500, and that isn't a guess.........

I have a 700 BDL 30.06 and I put a composite stock on it and PAINTED THE WHOLE THING but the bolt! The original wood stock is wrapped up and in a safe. Its a tool to hunt with. So I hunt with it.

I bought a used BDL stock that was in very nice condition for $50, put on a rifle with the crappy tupperware stock and it is ready to roll.

I don't necessarily disagree with you either. Some fancy engraving and a nice stock doesn't make this gun a whole lot more than a 700. BUT, they are drawing some BIG money for some reason. I paid $400 for mine and was very happy with my purchase. I might have gone as high as $500 or $600 but there are obviously buyers out there, especially in the .17 Remington Cal that are willing to go to $1500. And it is not just a single auction as you can see from above. Why, I have no idea, but it is happening.
 
His is SOLD too and I can't see the pics for some reason. All things considered, someone could have bought it, received it, posted it on GB and made a $1K.

Again, seems to be specific to the Custom Deluxe models though and maybe even more so the .17 Remington. Hence the OP should be aware of what he has, should he decide to sell it. I haven't seen too many for $500 in that config. I feel I got really lucky finding mine in .222 for $400 but on the norm, I typically see them go for much higher.
 
All I know is if that same gun was at a show around here priced for $1500 is that it would sit FOREVER. It is a frickin' 700 BDL, nothing more. Great gun, not a $1500 gun though.

My bud just bought a 700 BDL engraved 300 RUM with a Nikon Monarch on it for $400! If you check my posts, I talked of shooting it seveal times.

All this goes to show is that the same gun can sell for ANYTHING.

Now for those that have a clue, I'm pretty sure they are able to determine that the gun not worth $1500 by any means. But it is also worth more than the $400 my friend paid.......
 
OP, take that rifle and restock it with a CDL stock then hunt hard with it. I have a 700 BDL custom deluxe in .243 I bought new back in the late 90's. I didn't like the shiney stock so I dropped it into a CDL stock and made it really beautiful. I scratched the crap out of the black forend tip trying to jam the rifle through a fence to shoot a coyote, so I just bought another CDL stock and put it away.

I will say one thing, the wood on the one that sold for $1525 is spectacular for a factory Remington. I could easily see it selling for more than "normal" going rate. Plus the seller sure did lay it on pretty thick

You tried to jam the rifle through a fence and damaged the forend? Would not simply putting the muzzle through the fence work

No arguement going on here.

Apparently, the reality of the situation, as shown, is that the gun is worth somewhere between $500-$1500 depending on what someone will pay.

That said, IMO, the gun is worth around $700 mint.

The factory engraving came at no extra charge from Remington. Some may not know this, and pay more for it.........
 
2muchgun I understand difference of opinion and all opinions are respected. I may hunt the gun and buy another stock if need be down the road. Thanks to all who contributed, and i will post pics of first kill with the gun.
 
I understand what your saying though some guns are just too nice to hunt hard with. Its not the price of the gun that makes me feel this way just it looks too nice. Personally I have guns that just look amazing and I know that there just factory rifles and shotguns, but I don't want to scratch them and really hunt with them and worry about scratching them. That sad my hunting rifles that I do hunt with I don't worry about and they are worth more than the ones I let sit.
 
IMHO, the only sure way for "said rifle" to hold real value would be for it to be NIB & unfired ... anything else is up to what each individual is willing to pay.
 
trooper, I would buy some of that cloth camo-tape that sticks to itself but doesnt leave the "sticky" on the gun when u take it off.

Its not fool proof but would add some pretty good protection from minor dings or scratches while in the field.
