Reloading #2 TSS

Remember the old trick of using a primer tray to "count" the pellets. I use my Lee Load All, even when I scale weigh powder and tray count shot. Knock out old primer, size and prime. Funnel powder, seat wad with LLA, funnel shot, star crimp(with over card if needed). Not bad time wise to load 25. I use 5 small paper cups for tray shot to work ahead.

Send me a PM if you are interested in ordering 11 pounds of TSS #2 shot. #3 and #4 TSS shot will cost a little bit more. I just got a quote for 11 pounds of TSS #2 shot sent to my house for $418.00. With 11 pounds you can make 88 each 2 oz loads " $4.75 per shell" or 117 each 1-1/2 oz loads " $3.57 per shell." That is just the price of the TSS #2 shot per shell.

Is a roll crimp preferred with the TSS loads you folks are running? I still have my VersaMec from my sporting clays reloading days. It has a 6 pt star crimp if I remember correctly.

I don't use roll crimps. I just use 6 star crimps on the new hulls that I reload with.

You can get more than enough TSS shot in a hull without using roll crimps. A CSD 078 12ga wad would be a good wad to use with TSS shot with a Mylar wrap inside the wad. 1-1/2 oz of TSS shot will fit in a 7/8 oz CSD 078 steel shot wad.

With a 2-3/4" BPI TPS wad you will have to use more filler wads to get the stack height right for crimping. The CSD 078 steel shot wad has a crush section so it doesn't need as many filler wads.

Just want to update everyone:

I’ve done some digging and some ordering and some loading. I found some tested load data for 2 different 2.75” loads. One is 1.5 oz, the other 1 and 5/8. I stuck with my gut and loaded #2’s. The 1.5 oz load has 81 pellets, the 1 and 5/8 oz load has 88.

Hopefully I’ll get to pattern test these tomorrow and post some updates

TSS shot patterns very tight, try a Mod choke first. The young lady in the below picture has killed 4 coyotes lately with 2-3/4", 1-1/4 oz of TSS #3 shot through a Light/Mod choke.

I may be wrong here but doesn't most all tss come from China?
I'm guessing they along with tariffs is what's driving the cost up?

I am pretty sure all TSS shot comes from China. I was actually paying a little more for TSS shot about 8 years ago than what it costs now.

All of it does, and its cheaper now than it ever has been. Triple B Metals is about $32-35/lb depending on stock, it used to be only available from two guys for $50/lb.
