RB-17 Gun cleaner (solvent)...anyone else ?

I got a small sample bottle of RB-17 at a gun show a few months ago. Hadn't used it, until last night. I had put a few rounds down the barrel of my 22-250 and usually clean it after I shoot so went through my routine using Butch's Bore Shine, which i switched to about a year ago. At the end my patch was as clean as can be. I waited about 30 minutes while cleaning another gun I hadn't cleaned and then though i would try this little bottle in my box of cleaning supplies. I ran two patches soaked in RB-17 down the barrel and let it sit for about 3 minutes, I ran a patch down there and it came out pretty dirty (real grey). I ran another wet patch with RB-17 down it and let is sit for about 20-30 minutes. I then put some on my bore brush and did my routine, 10 down and back strokes (it was amazing how easily the brosh went in and out with that gel type cleaner on there), followed by another dry patch. It came out as black as can be. I kept patching and even ran the brush again until it came out clean. Amazing how much black came out of the bore from what I thought was a clean gun. Kind of sounds like some of your Wipe-Out stories... Anyone else use RB-17, and feel the way I do about it now, and where can I get some more??

THanks

Does no one else use this stuff, or is it some sort of gimmick? Either that or Yotecallr and I are onto something and based on my experience you ought to try it out.

I've used it also, and it seems to take out the powder fouling really well. But, as wrongtarget noted, wipeout does it all a lot better, and easier. So, I patch out the loose crud with whatever is handy, dry it, fill with wipeout, and go to bed. If time is a factor, I use Boretech Eliminator; if its really ugly, I use some JB's, but thats pretty rare. (The last little jar of JB's lasted about 25 years.)
