Ohio Roll Call

Seems like they have been moving a lot in very early am ...even in the cold spell. (like Loggers Inn posted).

When I get on our job site in the early morning our log roads look like coyote highways. Fresh tracks everywhere in the new snow, which makes me believe they are traveling late night-early morning.

Anyone live near either Wilmington or Hillsboro? I need someone to show me the ropes. I have hunted coyotes for over a year and have only killed one and that was certainly not by conventional methods. (We drove a yote into an open field kinda like driving dear.) So if anyone wants to show a new guy a thing or two it would be much appreciated!

Stay after it, it's tuff hunting this time of year.

I hear ya. I go just about every Friday night but need to try to find new places to hunt. I don't have access to very much private land yet.

Checking in from east central Ohio near Tappan Lake. Just ordered a new AR-15 carbine and Burris Tac 30 1-4x ill reticle scope! I have many varmint rifles but I wanted something just for calling and home defense etc. Haven't been out after any yotes yet but plan on getting out soon.

There is plenty of public land near Hillsboro. You have rocky fork, and paint creek right there. Public land can be a gold mine...if your smart about it. Do your homework, and get off the beaten path. I spent A TON of time in a local public spot a few years ago, and it paid off. I called in several coyotes, killing one. Unfortunately i had to learn some other lessons on the other ones. You have good ground around you. just take your time and walk it.

Ive never hunted them myself, but public can be good. I am not too sure how far away from Shawnee or Hocking you are but there is some beautiful ground there as well. Another one in seaman ohio is called tranquility. I have heard good things about that ground as well. Never hunted it though.

I'm about 45 minutes from tranquility and about an hour an fifteen from hiking hills. Love it out there but its a bit of a drive.

Just seen on the local news that they have a large unidentified cat around Canal Winchester, I guess it popped up on the security tape for a local storage unit. The people that work there said they would see multiple coyotes running the fields around the place....now they are gone. Wildlife people say it might be a bobcat(but they are far from convinced) by the video it would be a BIG bobcat.

2 legged cougars are everywhere around Kingys pizza in Canal Winchester

Hmmm, hunting trip anyone??? Lol

I've hunted Friday night and saturday night from 7p-1a and didn't see any movement, not even a deer out pasturing. On every stand had 'em howl back way off at a distance, but no show to the call! We are hitting a major dry spell me and the boy.
