Anybody got any outing plan yet???????

Cariboudreamer,
I'm locked and loaded, just waiting on a few other bowhunting buddies to get their deer, so I don't interfere with their hunting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I've seen several coyotes strolling across the corn fields or along a fencerow, while I was bowhunting. Now that I'm done with bowhunting deer, my RRA is humming and waiting for some coyote action. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good hunting, Bowhunter57

I am in northeast Ohio, near the river, do most of my hunting in jefferson and carroll county. I dont do alot until after the deerfest. I like to hunt after it calms down a bit. Love to use the snow camo also. Lookin at putting a different gun together for this season also.

Hi! Rudy here. I've done some calling in Carrol County too bud. South from Carrolton on Rt 9, down through Kilgore, and then all the way to Cadiz. A bit north of Carorlton too, near the Paulette Fur Company and Great Trail. How 'bout you?

Hunt any in Harrison?

Rudy

PS: Akron here.

Hello fellow Ohio Predator hunters!

It's getting t be that time of year - I drifted away from the forum over the summer but as December approaches I begin to get the itch again!! Who's had success on 'yotes so far this year? I have several hundred acres under lease in Coshocton county and could hear them yipping on Monday while deer hunting!!

Who is willing share tactics? I've managed a few but still can't seem to consistently pattern and call coyotes...

Deer, turkey, antelope, elk, caribou, bear... no problem, coyotes - tough hunting for me!!!

BTW - has anyone had to replace the battery in a Johnny Stewart tape (512)unit??

No success so far.Marginal success in calling in daylight...can get some barks, thats it.At a distance with no visual.Very worthy of trophy hunting around here in my opinion if you can call in/shoot a coyote in the daylight. My hat is off to someone that can regularly.

However hunting coyotes has made a better hunter out of me,and my tactics while scouting/hunting has enabled me to observe nice deer and all the other game.Last Tuesday/Wednesday a big 10pt a trophy buck, little 10 pt,and a small 8pt,numerous does, squirrels, rabbit, hawks, crow, you name it and in close range easy shots if I were able to shoot. But no coyote visuals....yet.

Maybe gut piles/carcasses will help next week...but would not attempt any call while hunting over one for sure and parrallel with the wind a good distance away.At least that is what I`m gonna do.

They are here for sure but very difficult to pattern under great conditions.I have called with trophy bucks in plain sight and they don`t seem spooky at all, just a little nervous. So my tactics ain`t all wrong, they just ain`t quite right,or there ain`t that many coyotes in this area. They will humble a proud hunter that is for sure.Am thinking night hunting may be the ticket for regular success in this area.Or I may go back to hunting squirrel with the .22 and if a coyote presents himself....

Anyway...good luck to you.

hey CANINE AND CARIBOU.been away from here for a while but im back now gettin ready for yote huntin. what ya meen OLD MAN ;CARIBOU.im workin on my howler there CANINE i dont think it sounds too bad but will not know for sure till a yote responds. good luck too all on yotin this year and be safe out there. also have been seein a lot of red fox too. good thing got furbearer permit myself....

Welcome to the forum buddy. I'm Rudy, up Akron way. One more deer tag then I'm all coyotes till spring.

Maybe we could get a few guys together and have a couple days of coyote hunting, Buckeye style. I'd drive down for a weekend.
