NYS Coyote Hunters

The snow is almost two feet. about 6-8" down is a 2" layer of crusty ice from about a week ago. We go slow and follow inn each others tracks and use snowmobile trails when possible. The cold cold temps over the past week have em moving.

I'm recovering from surgery still...sitting around the house is driving me nuts...

From what?

Get well soon before seasons over!

I went out callin' Thursday night only about a foot of snow. Nothing showed but when I got back to my truck I heard a pack start howling over a mile away. Hope to get out again soon.

I called this red color phase female in and took her at 110 yds. on Wed. morning at 7am. We started, my partner and I, @5am. Nothing came in at our first two stands of the morning. But this one came to the edge of a large field and blended in so well with the goldenrod and snow i had to do a doubletake .

my buddy has a fp fury . We had the cottontail distress going for @ four minutes when she popped out to the edge. Hit her right behind the shoulder. I could hear the satisfying whommp of the bullet hit the body, causing me to give the thumbs up to my par. suprisingly she did a 180 and ran back into the brush, but only made it 40yds.The fur is in very good condition , no rubs , guard hairs arent puuled . She weighed 44lbs. .223, Savage. thumbhole stock, 55gr. sierra spbt, 26gr. H335. Love the gameking bullets.

What does your dog think of the coyote? I killed one a week ago and my dogs both still go out and spell the ground with thier hackles up where I laid it down for pictures.

Our mutt is ok with all the critters i bring home , and he looks forward to my return after each episode. Our dane on the otherhand is a fruitloop. She carries on like all dead animals are out to get her, hackles up, incessant barking and woofing. Doesnt matter how many times you tell her to be quiet. She's not the brightest dane we've ever had.

Got two new calls in the mail today. Real excited to try them out...and then my house gets quarantined. 6 people living here, 3 puking. I am on vomit watch all night DOH!!! And with a wicked front moving in. DOH!!! Oh well. At least I can drive the dog nuts.

I haven't been out in a little over 2 weeks and can not find the motavation to walk out in snow that is above my knees. Anyone in southern NY having luck with predators responding in this deep snow?
