Mmm, beer!

The "Forum Difference" thread has started off on a completely different tangent to one of my favorite things - beer! Like with coffee, I'm just not that picky about beer. I suppose it's easier to say what I don't like, and that's IPA. Just not a fan at all. I like amber ales, dark ales, and so on, but not IPAs.

For "bulk beer" purposes, I usually just suck down a couple Ultras. But I don't do much volume drinking these days, so I tend to look for quality craft beers, usually from local or semi-local breweries. I tend to drink hefeweizens, stouts, amber/darker ales, pilsners, and lagers. One of my current favorites is German Overalls from Ex Novo here in New Mexico. I also like their take on German Pilsner - Perle Haggard. I also like semi-local brewery La Cumbre, and their Malpai Stout is delicious. Their A Slice of Hefen is also one of my favorites. Tractor Brewing in Albuquerque brews some good beers too. I'm a fan of their Farmer's Tan Red Ale and Milk Mustachio Stout. And, finally, when in doubt, just get some Shiner Bock.

What about you fellas? What's your pleasure?

Lagers, ambers and pilsners for me.

Coors has a craft beer called Colorado Native, using only Colorado sourced ingredients, and only available in Colorado. Very good flavor, and I am supporting a fellow hunter, Pete Coors, not that my $10 a week will be noticeable to him, lol.

Sam Adams used to be a favorite as well, but they went all Lefty on me.

I do not like 'flavored' beer, or fruity beer. My tastes run to beer flavored beer.

When traveling, I always like to try the local craft beers. I am rarely disappointed!

Consider me a Craft drinker for sure! I’m not a beer snob by any means, but I do prefer beverages brewed in smaller batches with the focus on traditional styles of beer and quality ingredients. I am fortunate enough to have a few places locally where I can purchase products from craft breweries all over the country as well as imports from around the world.

I am very fond of my IPAs, both New England and West coast styles. But I also like just about any style downstream of an IPA as well. Pale Ales, Amber Ales, Pilsners, Hefeweizens, Stouts, Porters…Man!… I’m getting thirsty typing this! Lol

I’ve visited breweries here in New York, Vermont, Maine, Tennesee, Georgia, Florida, Kansas and Missouri. I might be missing a state or two but you get the idea.

I Grew up literally a Block away from The West End Brewing Co which is known mostly for being the first brewery to open after prohibition. Also known as Utica Club Brewery as well as the F.X. Matt Brewing Co. Utica Club is the hometown brew around here and it isn’t a bad representation of a German Pilsner albeit a mass produced beer.

Some of my favorites are Maine Brewing Co, Alchemist Brewing in VT, Treehouse Brewing Co in Mass, and Now Saratoga Springs NY. Very Fond of Full Sail Brewing in Oregon, and the list goes on and on! Yep… I’m a Crafty!

I’m not the party animal of my youth by any means and I don’t drink with the intent of getting completely inebriated. But if I find myself in it for the long haul and expect to maintain for extended periods of time I try to find Pilsner Urquell. It tastes great, is low abv and for whatever reason I have never had any sort of next day hangover affects from it? And it tastes like real beer!

You can keep Sours, fruity flavors, anything that has Smores or cotton candy in its name. Stuff like that isn’t anything I’m remotely interested in!

I don't drink much canned or bottled beer. When I do, it's mostly something like a Tecate after mowing the lawn.

Draft, a nice fresh draft, I like pilsners and heff's for the most part. Or, whatever my brewer buddy Cody has hiding in his personal keg stash at his brewery BeWilder Brewing. He's got a passion for making beer and comes up with some amazing stuff. Some of which, he doesn't sell, but if you know the secret password... :ROFLMAO: . He's not real big on IPA's either. He makes a lot of them, because there is demand. But he's more into the pilsners for his personal taste which I appreciate.

My goto domestic is Sam Adams Octoberfest. I like it better than ever German imported Octoberfests. Most IPA's I've tried I just didn't like, Sam Adams makes one that's Ok (came in a seasonal assortment case) but plenty of other beers I like better.

Guinness Nitro Stout is uber smooth. My wife doesn't like dark beers or stouts at all but she likes this one.

It’s Father’s Day! The lawn mowing is completed. Time to kick back for a few minutes! Gotta be careful with these though! Lol 🤪

Yes the number one thing for me is that beer must taste like beer. I can’t stand things that don’t taste like they are supposed to. Same with coffee. If you want amaretto cream flavored coffee then possibly you should forget coffee and drink amaretto cream.

Agree. Although my favorite porter is Hodad made by Fiddlehead brewing and it is a coconut vanilla porter. I just arrived at my daughter’s house for dinner. A pile of local grown Ribeyes from one of my coyote hunting properties. My son in law greeted me with another heavy IPA. Love that kid!

Sierra Nevada makes good stuff. If you like IPAs, there is a brewery called Southern Tier that does a XX IPA and a XXX IPA. More Xs the higher the alcohol content. I highly recommend them

I’ve been to the Southern Tier brewery in Pittsburgh. I like a lot of their stuff but I’m really not a huge fan of their IPA’s. The 2x is very common on tap. Not a lot of complexity in my opinion.

three words describe my favorite beer style

barrel aged stout.

big fan of a few - dogfish worldwide stout, dragons milk triple mash, CBS, KBS maple mackinaw fudge & KBS blueberry is pretty amazing

im also a huge fan of Dogfish 120 minute - when i can find it anyway.

another fav - if i can locate it - Founders Highball Drifter. if you're a fan of Old fashions... omg!

That’s the beauty of beer… there’s something for everyone! Let your tastebuds tell you what you like.
thats the wonderful thing about how huge the craft beer industry is - if you cant find a beer you like these days, you're simply just not a beer drinker.
