Last hunt of the year

I decided to get out this morning for one last hunt. I wanted to get out to some of the ranches I hunt to deliver some bourbon to the land owners. I like to take them things throughout the yera to show that I appreciate them.

I started out the morning making a couple stands. I had some coyotes answer but none that would commit to the call. I decided to call it a morning and do my booze delivery. I was talking to one of the ranchers and he said he had a spot he wanted me to hit because he had seen a coyote there consistently over the last few days. So I talked myself into one last stand for the season.

I got set up in the general area of where he had been seeing the coyote.

I let out a few howls on my mouth diaphragm but got no answer. I set still and waiting for about ten minutes before I put on nutty nuthatch. About 3 minutes later I spotted a coyote coming in. He was about 300 yards out and coming my direction. When he got to 160 yards he stopped and was starting to put his nose to the air, so I chose to take the shot before he winded me and put him down where he stood.

Over all the coyotes didn't cooperate this year as much as normal and my numbers were down for the season. But I had some great hunts that will be great memories.

I sure understand the numbers being down thing. Drastically down in my case. Hopefully next season will be better. There's always some positive things to look back on and appreciate though.

Anyway, nice finish on your last stand.
