Have you tried eating squirrel brains?

I have caught small tidbits of a new series called Duck Dynasty on A & E. It involves a family, the Robertsons, that has built up a huge business making duck calls. I think they call themselves the "Duck men". Seems like they are good, honest southern folk.

Anyway, they have made mention several times throughout the show about eating squirrel brains. Just curious if anyone has tried eating them? I had never heard or even thought about it until now.

Just curious.

I have eaten beef brain ... and nuts. I love deer hearts! Just haven't tried the squirrel brains.

Need more info. How do you clean them & how do you prefer to cook them?

remove the eyes if you wish,roll in flour fry like frying the rest of the squirrel.tongues ain't bad either(;

I have never tried them myself. My grandfather loved squirrel brains. I don't know how they were prepared for eating.

Probably not a lot of you are going to run out and start eating squirrel brains - but here's some "food for thought" (see what I did there

). Two doctors in KY have found a possible link between eating squirrel brains and Mad Cow disease. In a given period of time I believe there were 11 cases diagnosed and all were squirrel brain eaters.

Guess If I had been eating them all my life I wouldn't quit. Considering that I haven't, I don't guess I'll start.

My Grandfather also loved Skwerl brains. I never cared for them, but I know enough people who do.

I was talking to a couple of friends this week who said, the eyes and tongues were the best part.

I've eaten beef brains and deer,elk, moose brains. didn't care much for any of them. Flavor was ok but the texture made me think I sucking pus out of a boil.

When BSE hit the cattle industry, I decided not to bother trying brains anymore.

Over the years I've also found brains to way overrated.

I've come to rely on my rugged good looks.

As hard as I tried to get Monica to try frog legs last nite and you guys are here talking about eating squirrel brain? Isn't that the part that explodes when you shoot them? Am I shooting them in the wrong place?

Something to think about, I dont know how true this is, hear of a guy who got mad squirrel disease from eating brains, they found him dead on his couch (cause of death) he chewed his Nuts off. Think I'll pass on the brains.
