For 17 years the rest of Kansas couldn't get Steve to do any new music. He just had zero interest. They did new work under a different name, which resulted in the members of Kansas, without Steve, playing the opening act for Kansas in live performances under the named Wheathead.

Then Steve decided it was time to retire, left the band. They hired new singer & put out a new album which is damned good & Steve did the same thing LOL

Funny how this stuff works out.
