Chest Pack Thoughts for Night Hunting Mainly

That comment about thanking Kino later to tether your scanner also goes to the remote in my case. And instead of reflective paracord, I use reflective tape on all my stuff that can be seen from all directions including my call, chair, tripod, gun clip (dropped it once), and even a little square on the front of the forearm.

Amen to that Mike! Fortunately for me I work in the Transit marking industry and have an unlimited supply of reflective materials to choose from! I’m particularly fond of the very highly reflective prismatic materials that are used for DOT approved reflectors on vehicles and road signage. Very small dots of material are extremely visible when you need them to be!

Kino or anyone for that matter, PM if you know someone that sells the packs at a fair price. I learned a long time ago running a PVS 14 that you need to tether. Can't tell you how many times I inadvertently hit the release button on my Wilcox mount and the tether saved me.

Some of my stands are 2-6 miles from the truck so I use a backpack to carry my gear in, along with a rifle and tripod too.

Bad thing about a backpack is you don't have fast access to the gear.

Kicking around the idea of ditching the backpack and downsizing to a Reese Outdoors Chest pack to carry, extra batteries, thermal monocular, remote, drag, hand calls, etc.

Any of y'all use a chest pack, likes, dislikes, etc?
I was thinking the same thing chest pack you could leave it on at the stand and not have to fumble around in a backpack on and off đź‘Ť

I bought mine direct, they do offer military and first responders discount if that helps.

This year I'm using the Reese Outdoors Thermal FFL Pistol Pack with side bags. I have a few other Reese Outdoors chest packs but this latest version allows me to more easily carry my backup pistol with suppressor.

I see they have 3 options for side packs on the elberlstock recon: a range finder pack, an accessory pack and a bear spray pack. It looks like Jeremy may be using the bear spray pack for his remote?

Which one is the best for a foxpro remote ?

I use a surplus chest rig and it works great for me. Extra batteries, multi-tool, scanner, extra magazine, range finder, remote, etc.

and sling my tripod if I walk very far and of course a good ole rifle sling, and pants with cargo pockets.

I ran a badlands bino harness for last 2yrs with no complaints, magnetic closure and lifetime warranty, not that i ever had to use it. Carried my iray finder, extra mag, batteries for everything, light, wind checker and still had room for small things if needed. This yr im running a Life is Now outdooors chect pack, It is bigger but has magnetic closure and is deep enough for agm sidewinder and luckyduck roughneck remote to fit without problems closing. so far so good other than it is more bulky, but depends on what you all carry to what you need.

I have many different brands and styles of chest rigs and for night hunting the eberlestock recon (large size) is the best I've found. It's expensive to get it fully kitted out but it's near perfection when complete.

I also have the Hill People gear recon and it's a nice American made product but it don't have nearly the capacity and capabilities the Eberlestock does.
I like your holster set up.
What holster are you using ,and how do you have it attached?
I like it right handed horizontal between the pack and my chest which looks like how yours is .

It has slots the the straps from the pack fits through, super secure and keeps the pistol at the ready, highly recommend Vennandi holster.

It's been a while since I have seen a post by you so must be hunting various locations. Good to know you're doing well brother!!!

Yeah, where ya bin?

Had a lot going on guys, my house was hit by a tornado in early July. Arguing with the insurance, dealing with contractors and clean up is still going on along with all the repairs. It's put me WAY behind on things but I've finally managed to start deer hunting and once that's over I'll be back on the coyotes.

I still check in pretty much every day, if you guys need anything just holler!

Man, That's horrible but glad you're ok physically. I'll say a prayer that you recover from such a loss!

I was born in Texas and went to live with my grandfather at 5 years old in Oklahoma. Seen way too many tornados that destroyed many many lives and one of two reasons why I moved back to Texas when I was 17.

I know about them tornados Kino and TXCOONDOG. I no longer dread the trip to the hidey-hole. Sometimes I think Oklahoma is the epicenter for tornadoes! Sorry for your loss Kino. Don't let those adjusters wear you down.
