I've never heard of Canadian Geese nesting in trees or even sitting on a branch of a tree.
I was up at the Maumee River (Maumee, Ohio), this past Thursday and noticed a nesting pair of Canadian Geese that were nesting in a double trunk of a Cottonwood, that was busted off on one side. There's no way those goslings are going to live in that tree until they get their feathers to fly out, like Wood Duck ducklings do. There over the land near the bank and have a solid 50 feet to drop to the ground.
Weird!
