Caller sounds to stop a runner

I'm just gonna have to learn how to do it. Vocally cannot use a diaphragm, even though I've tryed a bunch with turkeys. I wrecked a dirt bike some years back and my top and bottom jaw and teeth are all cadiver and beef, bone, titanium and porcelain i just cannot freaking use them as much as I want to. And tried for 2 seasons
Maybe an open reed on a short lanyard would be quicker than messing with the remote-it is for me, and I can pretty much run my remote w/o looking at it. But it will take practice.

With this cold weather we just had, I learned to run it with gloves, lol! Took a few looks to make sure I was on the right buttons a few times, but it beat freezing hands!! Even got the trigger pull down with gloves on. Now granted, our cold isn’t most of y’all’s cold, but lows in the 20’s and highs in the 30’s is NOT normal for down here!!!

Good question, I know the FoxPros have the FoxBang feature, my Foxpro Inferno Foxbang feature starts the female howl sound. I thought it was supposed to start the pup distress sound.

Coyote around me are always close, moving and on high alert. I bark at them with my mouth... that seems to work half the time, when im lucky.

But I sure know if a coyote is in front of me running around, I dont have the remote in my hands, theres no way I could fumble with the rifle and foxpro remote with a coyote under 100 yards in the open.

I few sounds I would try to stop them if I was relying on an Ecaller would be pup distress, female challenge, female howl. Or just yell a bark at them.

Foxbang plays preset #1

I use the fox bang feature on my Foxpro X24. I have some sort of pup distress programmed for the fox bang. I have the remote attached to my tripod and if I need to try and stop one without shooting I will just tap the remote with my hand and it will trigger the fox bang preset sound.

If my first shot anchored a runner, I think I would continue shooting if there were more runners. What would your course of action be?

Personally, I don't like shooting at runners. I try to stop them first.

I'd shoot the first one. Then try to judge and see how the others reacted. If they were still in range I would try to stop them by using a vocal or just yelling at them. If they were not in range and running for the hills I would just leave them alone and hope that they think their buddy Chad was struck by lightening. Come back and try calling them another day.

How many days later for another day? No pressure of this pack....... how many for pressured pack?

In my experience, you don’t have time to pick a sound on your remote to get a running coyote to stop. I’ve had mixed, but mostly good results using my voice to bark or howl.
I thought we were trying to stop a coyote or coyotes after a shot had been fired.

For stopping a coyote that is running into a distress sound I mute the sound. If the coyote is a hard charger I will mute the sound when the coyote is about 200 yards out. Muting the sound only works about half of the time. Woofing, howling or barking at approaching coyotes also only works about half of the time. Many coyotes turn and run away when they hear any sound that is in a different spot than your e-caller.

Foxpro's "Coyote Pup Screams" on full blast volume is the sound that we use to stop coyotes after a shot has been fired.

Most of the time we have a shotgun shooter and a rifle shooter on every stand. We don't try and stop coyotes that are coming into our e-caller. If the coyote stops the rifle shooter shoots it. If the coyote runs up to the e-caller the shotgun shooter shoots it.
