Anyone Pattern Snake Loads in Your Pistol ?

The CCI 9mm shotshells did well @ 5-10' out of my Keltec P9. Cycled next round, actually went thru paneling at that distance. Never had any snakes to try it on, just as soon keep it that way.

Really, the larger ones don't scare me as much as the smaller ones as they are easier to see, but I avoid wading through that deep unless I have to.

Don't care to try that on these snakes, Russ. I like my chief special, thank you. ;)

Here in Wyoming the rattlesnakes do not get that big. However, when we lived in Austin I used to hunt a lot in Bee County, about 45 miles North of Corpus Christi. Your photos reminded me exactly how big they get in S Texas. I killed a number of them while quail hunting as I did not want one hitting my dog. When they don't have to hole up and ball up all winter long, they have a chance to get that big.

man I hate a poisonous snake with a passion.
I'd need a 4" barrel on that pistol though I can't hit squat with a snub nose. :) I've reloaded some snake loads for a 38 special with a 4" barrel, works great

Back in the '50s I used to practice sitting w/back against tree or something solid, wrists on knees and could hit a 20"x20" (or so) quart oil can case @ 100 yards on demand w/the chief special. Those days are gone forever. A scope would be out of the question on the 60, so painted front sight red and point like a shotgun today, thus the shot shells. 🤣
