A challenge for you defensive handgunners...

Ordered the targets today after shooting. Will have to give this a try once they show up. Ordered 75 targets so I'm going to need more ammo.

Which targets Lance?

Ammo... I got .380's for the ladies and .380 is more expensive than 9mm and that kinda sucks... But yeah, I'm kinda ammo poor lately too.

The dot torture targets. Ordered 75 of them.

I load for pistol as well as rifle. Just need more projos and time to put them together.

Ah. I just printed some off. But paying the printer ink mafia, wouldn't be surprised if it's cheaper to just buy them. Actually, that's why I bought a hundred B8's, was a lot less than an ink cartridge.

Crossed over 1,000 rounds with it this morning.

The Holosun EPS Carry ejected the battery tray, cover and screw after about 400 rounds. I sent in a request on their website last Sunday and they said they had shipped the parts on Tue. But they aren't here yet and tracking still shows only label created. So... If they aren't here in another week I need to try again. Meanwhile just taping in a new battery has been working. And it has the solar option so runs without a battery in sunlight, which I used for about 200 rounds and it does work fine that way. In sunlight. But take it indoors and it doesn't work at all without the battery.

The Streamlight TLR-7 Sub started coming loose today, at about 600 rounds. Not nearly fall off loose, but noticed it moving loose. Half a turn loose. I had it blue toctited. I'm guessing that light coming loose is going to be kind of a regular thing.

Hopefully, losing the battery tray won't be a regular thing. I checked my wife and daughters new dots and the battery screws were tight on them. Whether mine was loose from the start and I never checked, or it started out tight and worked itself loose, I can't say.

The pistol has had zero malfunctions so far.

Progress. I'm getting closer on passing the Ken Hackathorn 10-10-10 test drill. "Passing" depending on the standard you are trying for. For me, it's ten shots, from low ready, all in the black on a B8, at ten yards, in under ten seconds. Shot it four times this morning. Failed twice on time, both mid 11 seconds. But kept all ten in the black on both of them. Failed twice on score, one with one out and one with two out of the black. Both between 9.1 and 9.5 seconds.

I'm getting there.

I've never seen the battery tray go missing like that. And I am around a bunch of these sights. That sucks for you, hopefully, Holosun gets that part to you quickly. Regarding the Streamlight, there is a company making a custom key for mounting that brings the light a bit further back and tighter up against the frame. I think it was $7 and it did make a difference in mounting my light. If you're interested I can probably find out where I ordered mine from.

Glad you are seeing progress. Keep practicing with a purpose using the timer to measure progress. Gradually you begin cleaning those drills and taking on new challenges and begin cleaning those and the satisfaction and confidence of that new hole punch will really kick in. Learn some tactics and have the "skill and the will" and you're better off than a whole bunch of folks out there. Good intentions and luck make for poor partners in gunfights. Too many people rely on those things to get them through.

DAA - put one leg in front of the other - better stance. And if you have to move, you go faster! Usually the off-side foot. Timed drill, those targets, get good target aquisition - but you probably have 10 feet to protect yourself.

Appreciate the input. @GC I would be interested in that key!

As an aside... I have bought a lot of pistol ammo the last two months. And am already seeing diminishing availability and increasing prices. I'm sitting on about 1500 rounds of .380 for the ladies and about 3800 rounds of 9mm for me. Not counting defensive ammo. At the rate we are going, that is really a pretty short term supply. So, make sure you VOTE!

this is why i'm glad i have a laser printer and can buy cheap off brand chinese toner cartridges. it gets my CPP down quite a bit over OEM stuff.

and witht he cost to have custom printing done these days being $0.30 or more per page.... often upwards of $0.50... ya...

Dave, I just realized your pistol has that proprietary Sig slot to mount the flashlight. My XMacro Comp has the 1913 Pic rail to attach the light. I very much prefer the Picatinny rail to that slot. The key supplied in the Streamlight 7A Sub doesn't work with the Picatinny rail, and this little key makes it snug up perfectly. However, this doesn't apply to your rail.

Ahhh. Yeah, that makes sense. I'm thinking the Sig slot mount is not real great.

An edit to add:

The parts from Holosun arrived today. Took two weeks to get here, but Holosun was very responsive, and, the parts DID get here, free of charge with no questions about when I bought the sight. The tape job held up just fine to almost 200 rounds. And getting the battery out to install the new parts took some persuasion. Which makes me wonder just how in the heck that stuff flying off was even possible. I put some blue loctite on the new screw and really just don't think it will ever be an issue again. Just bad luck. Which probably could have been avoided by checking that screw when I mounted the sight.

Small update on my progress. The 10-10-10 drill isn't what I spend the most time on, but it's what I first set out to accomplish. That is, 10 shots at a B8 at 10 yards in under 10 seconds, from low ready, with all shots in the black. I ran it five times today. Failed on score the first two. But then cleaned it three times in a row, with times from 7.8 to my last, fastest one at 7.25 seconds. Not exactly "mastered", but, a huge improvement from where I started two months ago.

Wearing a heavy coat, I'm not going to mess with going from the draw for time. But come spring, my next goal for that one is to clean it consistently from the draw.

I spent way more time and ammo today on 5 yard pairs, triples and five shots trying for speed. Consistently kept about 80% of five shots in under 2.5 seconds in a 3" circle at five yards, from low ready. Got a couple cleans in under 2 seconds. Which is considerable progress for me. About ready to move that one back to seven yards. And again, start doing it from the draw for time when the weather warms up in the spring.
