70 gr nosler powder choice for 243 win

Thanks for bringing this up. I meant to add that is was a hot load. It was showing some pressure and also between 90 to 100 degrees that day.

46.5 is where I ended up, although I shot all the way up to something like 47.2.
This is a hot load though so work up slowly in your gun.
At 46.5 seated .005 off in Lapua brass, I'm running 70's now at 3,385fps out of my Tikka T3 Lite.

I also had real good luck first with a full case of Reloder 19 and the 70NBT (seated short).
Speed was down around 3,250 though. I still use this formula for another buddy however.
I can give you specifics on this one also at any time. Just know that you can make them work and work well with either one of these two powders.

this seems to be a standard load for many 243's.

I shot a slower load for years on p. dog towns of 44.5g of Win 760 with a Fed 210 primer, and it shoots bug holes.

For best accuracy, the 70g nosler has shot the best touching the lands.

I had decent luck with 70 gr Nosler Varmageddon and H380 last year.
44.0 gr/3432 fps avg.
45.0 gr/3507 avg.
46.0 gr/3627 avg
These shot under 1.5" in a Savage 99C with a crappy Simmons scope off bags.

The same bullets shot similar with W760 last week but no chrono that day.

Many yrs ago I shot 4350 under a 75 gr SP in my commercial Mauser 243, shot many groundhogs to the point of wearing out the barrel!! I replaced the barrel with a premium Douglas!! Still shoots the same load!!

You want speed to go along with that 70gr bullet?

Hodgdon claims 3,764fps with Ramshot Hunter and 3,724fps with Stabal 6.5.
Wow. I have several pounds of Ramshot Hunter sitting on my shelf and a few hundred of the 70g NBTs. I am going to try this. The next 3 weeks are busy with packing for the move to Wyoming and then I will give this a try when we get over there.
