6 or 22 ARC - Now turned to 6x6.8 SPC Thread

Here's the 6x6.8 SPC with TI Can, Texas Predator Posse Edition Lower with Timney 3lbs trigger and Thermion XP 50 Pro 2-16 Thermal

Waiting on the adjustable gas block and Acra rail but thought I would post how the build is coming.

Looks like a great killing machine!

Currently building a 6 ARC strictly for PRS gas gun competition. For this specific task I think the 6 ARC and 224V are the best options but I like the 6 version better.

My barrel is an X-Caliber full bull profile, 22", 1/7tw 5r, headspaced to a RC bolt. I only intend to run 105 Bergers or 108ELDMs in it. Brass is readily available at Starline, just got 500 delivered last week.

If your going to run the light varmint bullets I definitely wouldn't go this route with either of the ARC offerings, I'd go 6x6.8, it will run circles around the comparable caliber with light bullets.
Why did you go with 6 ARC over 6mm Max? Thinking about going with Max for DMR

I think the ARC is better suited for the long heavy bullets, if you look closely at the case length of the MAX the 105-108gr bullets will be deep in the case taking up case capacity. I could be wrong but I think the ARC also has a more inherent accuracy case design. I chose the ARC because I have zero interest in running light bullets in it. I also don't plan on pushing it hard because the outcome on Grendel bolts being pushed is pretty well documented that it's going to fail.

I think the MAX comes with 8tw barrels, most ARCs are 7tw which I also prefer.

The MAX does have the advantage of a stronger bolt.

The ARC has factory ammo readily available as well as components, thats another plus.

Looking to build something for my grandson and looking at both (PDOG and predators).

Are you getting the advertised velocities in the reloading manuals (which are using 24" barrels) without the pressure signs?

Not sure what length barrel yet, I figure 25 fps plus or minus per inch.

Give me your findings and list barrel length/manufacturer, powder, primers, bullet, caliber, feeding issues, etc. including good/bad and ugly .......the more info the better!
I have built both in AR platforms. The 6 is my night rig (Thermal) I don’t reload as the only thing id gain would be a little speed both are insanely accurate. I have about 1800 rounds through the 6arc and 600 through the 22arc. I order online most times free shipping and no tax. $1.20-$1.30 I constantly watch for sales. I’ll be building a 2nd 6mm arc soon. It is my favorite all around caliber.

Only issue i had was the gas system. Im using prof research 18’barrels on both and a hux work flow through cans. Along with Vltor A5 tubes and buffers. When i started shooting the 80g vmatch which i love had cycling issues. Swapped multiple gas blocks both adjustable and none adjustable. Running max flow through block my rifle wouldn’t cycle even without the can. Ended up using the Vltor system but a reduced recoil cabine buffer spring it runs flawlessly. I do change springs when i shoot the 108s and 103s. I use 108s for pigs when i know they’ll be running shots. 103s for deer and when I’m baiting a big boar off feed.

Every talks about the bolts failing yet I’ve never personally seen a failure. I think that may be a made up story. I worried a long time then quit, worrying. Not saying it hasn’t but just old to never actually see it between the crowd of folks i know. The 6 max guys really ran with that story.
