308 for coyotes. What ammunition ?

started playing with the idea of 135ftx and 125 sst from the 308, looks like 1680 is decent fast powder to use. Might even try the vmax. sounds interesting.

like shooting white tail with 338 it’s not gonna be friendly at all
The .338 is my all time favorite rifle for everything (even shot a few coyotes with it if it was in my hands at the time) and they're not all that bad. I will say, I don't save S TX pelts, so that's not an issue but have shot a number of deer with the 338 and, yes, it makes a little bigger hole, but picking my shot (broadside) with well built bullets and proper placement (tight behind shoulder) wastes very little meat (using either 210 NP or 200 Accubonds). If you plan to go large caliber for particular game, just pick "thick skinned" bullets for less damage.

By the way, welcome to PM! (y)

If I was going to use a 308 on coyotes, I'd probably use my 165gr hunting load. I have this thing about me and loading, the bullet I choose generally depends on the cartridge. I've tried 150's in my 308 and didn't like the accuracy from any bullet I tried. Big hold back is you are probably not more accurate than your rifle so the rifle should decide which bullet you use. Been several years ago but was out hunting carrying my 6.5x06 with me. Found a coyote and let it have one in the chest. It spun in circles for a moment and expired, not any damage to the pelt that I could see. 140gr Hornady SP was the bullet. Probably not enough resistance to expand the bullet much!

If you are going to use your 308 I'd suggest using the load most accurate in the rifle, let the rifle pick the bullet!

If you're looking for some 110 varmageddon projectiles...
