30-06 bullet weight question

What is the lightest factory ammo I can shoot out of the 06? I have found a place that sells 55 grain 30-06 ammo. Has anyone ever used this before? Would this shoot accurately out of my Rem 700 BDL?

Thanks

harley, you don't even want to go there. They will turn your 30-06 into a long range shot gun. I am guessing that you are talking about the sabot bullets where they shoo a 22 cal bullet from the 30-06. They are fast but very inaccurate.

The Remington 55 gr. sabot was pretty inaccurate in the 3-4 rifles I've seen them tried in. Most folks will tell you the same, they're pretty bad for accuracy. However, who knows, they may be tack drivers from your rifle. Shooting them is the only way to really know for sure.

Seems to me there are some factory loaded 125 grain 06' loadings. If not the good old 150 grainer will certainly kill a coyote a long, long, way off.

Sorry folks, I should have been clearer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif I just got my rifle today so I have been looking for some lighter bullets to use on the yotes. Is there is anything lighter in a factory load than the 125 gr managed recoils? I'm looking for factory loads since I don't have the equipment to do my own reloading. I have some Remington managed recoil 125 grain shells but I haven't got to shoot any yet. Has anone used these before? I'm looking at all my options and trying to find out what I like the best. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Anyone want to make me up some 100 gr loads for a fair price? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

Thanks for all the responses. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

harley, let me chime in here dude,,,,i have a couple 06s and they aint for shooting dogs,,,even if you drop to the lightest bullet for an odd 6,say 100 gr its max overload,,and the boom factor comes into play, loud [beeep] gun, runs the dogs off quick too.if you can swing it buy a 22 cal something, or go to the shotgun, wait for deer season to brake out the big guns,,,lol,, take care
