243 Rifle

The 75gr Vmax at full throttle worked great for me, and I went 33-34 coyotes straight without an exit or any pelt damage, from about 20yds to about 400.

Accurate and hits hard.

Group size out of the rifle, as stated, will be your decider. I use both but lean to the 58's out of my 243 and don't have a good reason why . Both are equal in the accuracy department with my handloads but the 58's seemed to get more DRTs so I went back to them this fall.

I have an 8 twist 243 and it shoots the Factory loaded Hornady Superformance and HSM Varmint loads with the 75 grain Vmax really well. I did put a few Hornady Superformance 58 grainers down the tube and they were very accurate as well. Just haven't tried them on a coyote because the 75's shoot great and I have a lot of them. Your rifle will let you know which is best.

I agree with AWS that most 6mm bullets will work fine. My 6mm Remington loves 55 gr. Sierra Blitz Kings and anchors coyotes with authority at 3720 fps. Great coyote combination. I used a 58 Vmax one time in the 6mm that knocked a baseball size hole on the offside, but dead coyote on the spot. In a 6x45 I first began using 75 gr. Sierra HP’s and they did a good job, but i have since switchef to 70 gr. Sierra Blitz Kings. The HP’s seem to hold together better at 6x45 velocities, thus I have taken two whitetails with them. I am assuming the 75’s at .243 velocities will be very good coyote bullets. In my opinion, a 6mm caliber is a great coyote getter.

I see where Mojo has a predator decoy. Have any of you used it for coyote hunting and has it added to your success? Thanks!

I use decoys, they seem to focus a predators attention on to the decoy giving the hunter a better opportunity to shoot. Others have had coyotes spot a decoy and bail. I've had coyotes jump 4ft off the ground and grab the decoy, I've also have had coyotes ignore a the decoy and grab the caller.

Somewhere on the site I wrote a tutorial on how I use a decoy. It was before the change over and I'm not sure where it was put.
