22ARC

Long distance and 250 yards do not go together. If that is the effective range for the 22 ARC, I will stay with my 22 Swift, 243 Win and 222 Rem. Hell, I even shoot my 17 rem effectively on coyotes out to 300 yards.

Guys, please look at the actual data before you decide "effective range" and where "the bottom falls out and the drift is crazy", whatever that means...

Here's a page from the gas gun data, which is lower than bolt gun data to protect AR bolts. You can wing a 62 grain bullet 3400 fps. You're not doing that with your 222 or 17 Rem.

No, it's not a laser-flat hot-rod, but it ain't no slouch either.

Compared to what? In the same length barrel, it shoots much flatter and with less drift than a 223. As others have noted, it really shines in an AR platform. In a bolt, it makes less sense unless your goal is a soft shooting, but very capable rig with performance somewhere between 223 and 22-250.
will let you know the next good day I have to compare the 22-250 and 223 to the 22ARC from 100 to 300 others may blow smoke I won’t if it sucks it sucks point black on the hand if it shoots great then I will post it I was shooting with 15 to 20 mph cross wind so it had a lot to do with the accuracy that day not gonna lock it up just yet

I might consider one if it had a slower twist, even an 8, and was throated to shoot lighter bullets. I can get 3,250 with 50 gr. bullets out of my 16" 8 twist barrel and it runs and handles great with the Banish 30 suppressor. So, what Hornady shows with a 24" barrel isn't much use to me.

Go with the .224 Grendel chambering. We have been shooting the .224 Grendel 1:8" chambering for a while and have great luck with 53 grain all the way up to 75 grain projectiles. I know others who are also shooting heavier bullets than that. You can use the same brass, dies and loads as the 22 ARC.

OK, I'll be the dumb one. What's the difference between a 22 ARK and a 22 Grendel? I was under the impression they were one and the same. Truthfully, I hadn't heard of the 22 Grendel until now.

The difference is Hornady marketing, same as the 300 Whisper/300 BLK, 243LBC/6ARC, and others.

There's lots of calibers that's been done well before the Hornady marketing team "invented" them and made it SAAMI spec with factory support.

This whole sex appeal of the 22ARC for predators IMO will eventually fizzle out because the market is flooded with options in the 6mm and 22cal that runs through an AR15.

The 6x6.8SPC and 6 Hagar are superior in every way and have been fielded for over a decade, hopefully Hornady can eventually steal those and SAAMI spec them soon, the performance of those will make the others die on the vine....
