221 Fireball reloading

New to the 221 Fireball world. Running a 24" barrel on an AR. What's a good starting reload for groundhogs (woodchucks) and similar size varmints? I know there's some older posts, just wondering if anything new has came about.

I'm using 45gr hp and soft point bullets. Sierra and speer. Don't remember what powder as I've misplaced my data. DOH!
I'll have to start all over again once I start running low. RL19 comes to mind?

I’m using Lil’Gun in mine. 40gr Nosler BT. Getting 3500+fps. Next batch I’m going to try CFEBLK just for giggles. I’m quite positive RL19 in the above post is a typo.

Could be. Like i said, lost my load data but remember it being an RL of some sorts.
Looked through what I have. Had to be RL7 like DAA posted.

I don't have a .221 anymore but mine was in love with 40 Vmax and RL-7. Most accurate factory barrel I've ever owned. And actually, now that I think about it, I do still have that barrel, it's just sitting on the shelf without an action to go on.

AA 1680 or RL 7 with 40 gr. NBTs work best out if my 24” Cooper.
Bolt-action guy here, but an AR in .221 Fireball sounds like fun. Curious to know how it feeds, magazine used, etc.

Feeds well with modified magazine. The magazines are metal 5.56 with a "spacer" type block built in to help with the feeding. 24" heavy fluted barrel.
