Just to spice it up even more....

Will your .204 or hornet do this? A .223 with a TSX will smoke hogs and deer. I got an exit from the ribs on this little piggy at about 125 yards.

Welcome to the internet.

Think I'll turn it on a cape buffalo next time :)

Wow and Yippy Skippy! My learning curve just got less steeper. This is visual and written proof that the 223 Rem is the only cartridge one needs to own. Hogs..........Deer.........and maybe even Cape Buffalo.

OK! Fire sale at my house. I'm only going to keep the cheapest 223 Rem I own that I can obviously kill everything with. Any other rifle/cartridge combinations are a waste of money.

And welcome to the internet to you too. Crazy place isn't it?

Very nice Scot, although I kinda lost interest after #7.

Looks like you got lucky in the CZ wood lottery on #6.
I got this one sight un seen from Whittakers.

It started life as a 221, but has since been rebarreled to the greatest round of all times.
The 17FB.

BTW, as much as I like your taste in firearms, being all neet and tidy like that is kinda creepy.

That's between you and him.
I simply like his taste in firearms and choice of calibers and said so.

Don't care about the 223 one way or the other but I do think it's popularity probably has allot more to do with availability and price than actual performance.
Since it's not what the OP asked about I'm staying out of it, but feel free to carry on without me.

By now every body should know it starts and ends with 223 that is the only answer. Don't ask any questions about anything else.I have 2 and they take a backseat to my swifts everyday of the week.

If you get a .204 I would suggest getting a faster twist. I have a 1-10 twist .204 that shoots the 40 g. Vmax really well. Maybe it won't shoot them much faster then a .223 but they will fly further and flater due to their superior B.C.

Therein lies the problem: all things aren't equal. That is why they are different, because they aren't equal.

I own and have owned many more in the listed calibers. Things I like about them all, but I have to agree with those above in that if you're having to choose, skip the hornet and 204 and get a 223.

How much more weight? Most over the counter .223s are 1:12" twists and cannot shoot much more than a 55 gr at 3000-3200fps. (I know there are 1:8" and 1:9" options, but most of your .223s are 1:12")

Even if you go with a 50gr, you're still not meeting the ballistics of a .204R.

At 400 yards say, you're losing that battle when comparing a .223 to a .204R.

Another option is the 53gr V-Max.
