Moly coated bullets

If you have a BHW barrel I can send you HBN. Ive got a small jug that will last a lifetime.

I went looking for pressure signs with the BHW and HBN, I kept having to get faster powders to fill the case. That load is the first sign of consistent noticable CCI450 flattening, and happens to be the most accurate load in my gun. I did less testing with HBN 65gr SGK but I had them all they way up to 26.5gr Benchmark, I didnt shoot them over the chrono.

I love the stuff, I been using HBn for more than 20+ years. Got turned-on to it years ago from a guy doing final lapping of rimfire barrels with it . I have zero Neg's about the stuff. Nanoparticle lube is some super Slick and Hard stuff. 1-Lb. of it will last you many years.

Amusing story about when I 1st got into it. My buddy sent me a LB. threw the USPS. It was originally a sealed bag, but he opened it once but just taped it good closed and did a double wrap of plastic around that and taped and sealed it good, and shoved it in a large heavy parsal sealed envelope . It looked like it would hold water it was wrapped so good.
When I got delivered to my house there was white powder everywhere all over outside of that envelope . Being that a Nano is 1/1000 of a micron in size. It just with Zero effort crawled and siphened out of the tiniest of seams of the plastic and tape . I could not believe when I got that package delivered that the Fed's were not knocking on my door for illegal postal of some Chem. drug, anthrax or someshit.

Wow that sounds like a nightmare having that everywhere. I was just wondering how I would ship it, I would need a small hard container to put it in and then plastic wrap that.

I was playing with it a good bit during covid but Ive moved and got all sorts of other things going on now. Ive got more .224 bullets coated and box 140 VLD to try for the first time in 260AI, I just havent gotten around to it.

I try to limit how much I use and get that tiny tiny particle HBN all over but one of my favorite general purpose lubes is a mix of that HBN with Husqvarna 2 stroke engine oil, just a drop can lube half an action and its the same viscosity at -30f or 100f.

It does crawl up the threaded jar lid but does not come out past the rubber seal when lid is tight. I been slow roll tumbling my bullets in it same way never changed. Just a small jar, with some copper BB's and just a dab of HBn . I pack rags around the Jar, keeping Jar in center of the drum . I only do about 100 bullets at most at one time..
Been wearing rubber gloves when working with it, when I buff off the finished tumbled bullets in old socks or cloths. I pretty sure there is no toxicity but that shit will impregnate your skin layers fast.

Tumblers and cameras are two electronics I cant handle. Ive broken two tumblers and I dont like dealing with them in the first place. I had to get a little creative, I heard it helped to heat everything before vibrating, heating it up opens the metal pores and more HBN gets trapped in. So I heated the heck out of the steel BBs and bullets on my wood stove and then I would agitate that every so often. It seemed to work, Vmax really seemed to pick it up, those would be slipping out of my fingers, Im sure most horandy must be that way then. If that other guy was shooting that load with CCI400 primers the Vmax had to be more slippery than my Barnes flattening 450s with the same load.
 
Beside clean bullets, humidity is the biggest curse keeping you from getting good results with moly.

Early on, I had piss poor results outside in 90 degree summer temps due to the humidity, thinking heat was the answer.

Best results for me come from running the tumbler in a corner, under a work bench, with a dehumidifier aimed at it for the duration.

I also use 3 large tote lids on both sides & top of the dehumidifier to aim air directly to the tumbler.

Despite early claims to the various benefits of moly, for me, it comes down to being able to shoot longer w/o losing accuracy.

Around 2500 rounds is the end of competitive accuracy.
