However, most dog/coyotes interactions I know about. The coyotes were aggressive to those acreage/farm dogs. However, I know of a few instances. Where a farm dog was seen playing with a wild coyote. The state I live in. For many decades, there were "breeders". Who force bred a wolf to a dog. As well as coyote to a dog. They sold the off-spring on the open market. There are other states that still do that. Sell both hybrids. During all of those years. I suspect a few if not numerous? Were dumped or got lose into the wild. For whatever reason(s).

Far be it from me to say yay or nay on the subject, as I have never seen anything that looked like a cross, but I have seen all the pictures of "black" coyotes whose coats do bear a resemblance to dogs. I found the above quotes from the article which could hint at an explanation.

Genetics do seem to have a way of skipping multiple generations in the animal world, that's for sure.

2025 marks my 61st year hunting predators. Sometimes I witness anomalies in nature. Although rare or not known by most hunters. I will share those experiences for a few reasons. #1. To assist or inform a younger hunter shorten the learning curve. #2. Is to draw out those. Who think so highly of their own experiences/beliefs. Those who attack my posts. I find your comments amusing. You actually believe you can or will, make me submit or stop sharing. Or bow down to your rant tongue lashings. Rant away, oh noble ones. :)

Many decades ago. I came in contact with 2 elderly widower farmers who raised sheep. They asked me to hunt their land & kill any coyote on their land. Two adult coyotes roamed their land. Whom I suspected as being the sheep killers. I only seen the large one who was one of the largest coyotes I ever seen. It had a 4" paw print on firm snow. I never did see it's mate with it. But I seen their tracks together a few times. They continually trespassed on adjacent coyotes territory. The large coyote I have no idea what it's genetic make up was. But he was roughly 1/3 or so. Larger than most coyotes I've laid eyes on.

You forgot to add the Scottish Deerhound to your dog list. I could care less what you have to say. FACT is the large coyote pic I posted previously had the color "Blue" in it's fur. You can not admit it, can you? How you counter that fact is. To side step it.

IF...you were to admit it. Your only option then would be. That it was a hybrid.
 
Listen Joe. I'll use smaller words. Please read the two pictures I posted that explain that there is no such thing as blue hair in a canine. I've tried to explain this to you a dozen times. I've posted at least 2 pictures that explain this now. Please read them. "Blue" hair in a canid is black hair mixed with other colors. Canids do not have blue hair, none of them. Blue healers aren't actually blue, just like all other "blue" dogs. Feel free to research this further than what I've already shown you.

Your coyote had black hair, just like 2/3 of all coyotes in Anerica.

I seriously doubt you & I will will ever agree. The coyote pic I posted not long ago. Had blue hair on its fur. What was it's DNA make up? I do not know. However, you claim blue hair is from DNA mixing of black & silver. I do not buy that at all in the canine world. When it comes to pure bred DNA tested coyote (biology). After all, you've stated the color "Blue" comes from silver & black. Your continual yapping doesn't cut it. Like you...Don't you believe the science, eh? With that being said. Show me 1 purebred biologist coyote study. That proclaims a purebred coyote can have blue in it's fur color. You know...the mixing of silver with black. lol!
